|Betty Jean, daughter of Maurice and Peggy O'Neill Rodenberger, grew up on Orcas Island, Washington, as did her parents. The O'Neill family came from Maine in the 1880's and homesteaded on the island near the Canadian border in Puget Sound. |
After 34 years living in Seattle and Los Angeles for schooling and employment, Betty Jean returned to her home and family in 1999.
It's a quiet,ten-minute walk from her home through the woods to the Olga-Doebay Cemetery where many of her family, friends and neighbors are at rest.

I am John Ciet's brother. Me and my brother spoke with you on the phone a few months back around Christmas time. I promised you some photos from my family album of Charles Freel. I did scann the photos with my awesome scanner but haven had the time yet to go into the computer to do photo touch up. I will get on it soon. I will send you what I have on my phone photos, not the best resolution but at least you will have something for now.
I was just on vacation in Victoria island, took a trip out on the sound for whale watching and looked out East and told my partner that that was where Betty lives. Beautiful county it is.
I made the corrections on Nancy Ann Ross Freel in my tree.
I went to Orting Washington while on vacation looking for Charles William Freel our 3x great grand father. The find a grave on him said he is buried in Orting Cemetery Orting County Washington, USA. I could not find his burial plot. I serched every stone in the cemetery and did not find him. I went to the other cemetery which is a block away called the Washington Old Soldiers Home Cemetery and there was a list on the board of everyone in the cemetery and he was not there either. I called the Orting Cemetery and they had no record of him. Do you have any idea where Charles William Free may be buried? I find it strange that there is a find a grave on him stating he is buried in the Orting Cemetery but no record is found. His death record states he died in 1920 in Orting Pierce Washington.
I was in port Angeles for about 6 days. I went to the cemetery there and saw Syrena Elizabeth McLennan grave and her Husband Colin Frederick "Pop" McLennan 1866–1941. I did a lot of work on my tree adding the McLennan to my tree.

Hey, on second thought, since you know people in the area there. Would you like for me to transfer all of the cemetery to you? I would be more than happy too! Let me know!

I have done as you requested. Just as a point of reference, not everyone is familiar with the WA Digital Archives, so they could easily miss out on an opportunity for further info on their ancestors.
