Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born in Mobile Alabama (dob 1950) and have resided in New Orleans for the last 30-years. As a genealogist following all my direct lines, Conecuh County Alabama and Thomas county Georgia have proven to be my most relevant locations. The surnames I follow close are the first 7 generation of my perigee chart, including: OWENS, KIRKSEY, HIGDON, MIXON, STOKES, BARTLETT, HANSON, JOHNSON, HINES, BUIE, CRANE, WILLEY, MCLEAN, BYRD, STENNER, KILGORE, FARRIS, PINEY, WOODHAM, YOUNGBLOOD, MCDANIEL, IVEY, VERNOW, JOINER, ALLIGOOD, BARNS, WILLIS, CONE, CLAY, BODIFORD WILCOX, MANN, and STILLEY.

By occupation, I have predominately worked in shipbuilding and marine design and have enjoyed projects on most continents including North America, Central America, South America, Western Europe, Africa and Western Asia with involvement in Military combat vessels, Oil transport exploration and production, commercial vessels and specialized vessels including self-elevating, Minesweepers, and high speed planing hull.

Nautical and genealogical pursuits will migrate into ones blood. They are both additive demanding a lifelong commitment. Find-A-Grave has proven to be a valued source of information. I wish to give back some of the beneifits received through this web service by making some contributions of informations.

Cemetery records
I've called many cemeteries asking whether certain persons are buried there. They all were helpful. I've never be turned down. Many times they have had to call me back with the info. I always asked for the plot number & other missing info that I need. Never tried funeral homes. Hope this is helpful.

Are you who wrote all the information on John and his family. If so I have a question?

Thanks

RE: LW and John Brantley
For the Conecuh names you are associated, the Canebrake Society is a valuable resource primarily because of Sherry Johnston....there are no genealogical libraries in SW Ala. (including Mobile) that can compare with Evergreen.

RE: LW and John Brantley
The men you seek are buried at Bermuda Community Cemetery located on the old Federal road, the border of Conecuh & Monroe counties. The cemetery lies within Conecuh. Should you go to facebook, type in Canebrake Society, and request to join, a lady named Sherry Johnston is waiting for your request. She is the historian/genealogical expert for Conecuh and works at the Evergreen (Ala) Public Library. After joining, you can make known your queries and I am certain that you will find your answer. My efforts lie within Monroe and the Brantley family live here but originated from Conecuh, basically along the old Federal road in the Burnt Corn area. That is a general statement but the researchers of this line are more concentrated within Conecuh. Good luck and contact me should you need assistance within Monroe.

Lineage of Mary McLean Owens
Mary was the daughter of John McLean and Elizabeth Jenkins! Elizabeth was first marriage to Joseph Jones and then to John McLean. Elizabeth was the daughter of Joseph Jenkins and Elizabeth Lewis. Joseph was a revolutionary soldier and is buried in Wilcox County, Alabama. This information is well documented staring with Joseph Jenkins Bible records.
Mary married Phillip Owens, Jr. as you have stated. Please note that Elizabeth C. Owens (Blackwell) was listed in Joseph Jenkins as being born June 27, 1850.

Mary Ann "Mittie" McLean Owens
Phillip Marion Owens and Mary Ann "Mittie" McLean Owens may not be buried at Jenkins Chapel, however, we
can leave the memorials there until further info comes to light.

As requested, William Riley Owens has been linked to them as his parents.
