W. Barton, Armour Cem.
I am very familiar with Armour so I picked up your request and went over yesterday, I thought it would be a walk in the park to locate the marker, turned out not so.
I walked the entire cemetery with no luck.
I am relenquishing the request back into the system in case someone else can help with filling it for ya.
I am leaving today for a roadtrip and when I get back, I'll give it another shot.
The dirty little secret, and quite sad actually, that the cemetery people never talk about is that when the asphalt road was built many years ago, that they went thru the middle of the cemetery and covered over graves that were in the way. Those souls are lost forever.
After I heard that story, I didn't actually believe it so I went out and checked for myself.
I'm one of those "odd" people who can find human remains with rods and after locating (10) graves under the asphalt I was so dismayed that I quit searching.
There are also many dilapidated stones that are almost impossible to read and I didn't have my stone cleaning kit with me, it was in another vehicle.
I had to ramble about the above to explain the difficulty in locating it but I will be back out there sooner than later.

RE: James M Duke
Just some updates/questions on James McCadden Duke.

1. I added his father William James Duke to his Family Links.
2. His first wife was Susan Proctor. m. 9-9-1852 in Orange County, NC.
3. Alice was born in 1861 and must be Susan's daughter since James did not marry Pattie until 1882.
4. Is "Pattie" a nickname for Martha Jane Duke?

Thanks for your help. Jane Long, D & J Long 48041012

RE: James M Duke
My husband and I are slowly working this cemetery with photos. We will continue to look for the first wife and will let you know if we find her. She is not buried on either side of him. The graves were placed left to right: Hattie, James, Martha Jane, Alice. If you need anything else in this cemetery, please let us know. We work during the week and do our "graving" on Saturdays. Thanks. Jane

Also, please note on James' stone that his birth year is listed as 1834, not 1831. Do you have a birth record that lists 1831? If so, I can put a note on the memorial page. Thanks.

RE: James McCadden Duke
Hi, Debbie. We went out this morning and took pictures of the Duke stones. I've posted James, Hattie Maie, Martha Jane, and Alice M. James and Alice had to be cleaned because of recent rains and storms that had left a lot of dirt on the stones. I failed to rinse the suds from around the base of James' stone, so I will go out and retake his pictures, maybe next week. I will let you know when they are reposted. Just thought you would want to see them ASAP. Please forgive the suds. LOL!! Jane
