I am a retired person on disability and just began working on my family genealogy about May, 2012. It's a gas! -- am really enjoying myself, The process is fun, exciting, and challenging. It can be rewarding and frustrating at the same time.

There are SO many resources and so LITTLE time. It's amazing how time flies when tracking down a clue. How I wish I could apply my former occupation's [computer[] skills to tweak sites and search engines so they would work better IMHO, of course!

Am so sorry, but my disabilities now prevent me from being able to volunteer to take grave photos or go and research actual paper records at local sites. Still am willing to share any data that I've found with any of my 'cousins' out there. Or do some research by phone at local places that might be long-distance to you.

A tip: Try using Wikipedia or even Google to look up a 'historical' relative. You'd be surprised what you might find...a biography, or a reference to a book in which your relative might be mentioned, or even a Surname-themed website maintained by relatives.

You are free to use anything I post to this site for your own personal family history research but may not do so for any commercial purpose without prior written permission. Thank you.

Good luck in your ancestry quests!

RE: Richard Taylor and wife Sarah Ann Cornett
Hello Cousin,

Thank you for the invite to check out your info. It was nice to meet you. I'm always interested in hearing about the Taylors and their descendants.

Butler Davidson Cemetery
I did get to this cemetery right before I left town. We didn't have a good camera or tools to clean gravestones, but we rubbed the crud off with our fingers (mine were sore for some time), and my granddaughter took pictures with her phone camera. I have posted all those that I could read. I am going to check the others and perhaps post them as unknowns. I think there were a few of those. I did take a lot of notes plus we stopped by the house afterward as directed and they gave me a list of those supposed to be buried there. So I put all those on too whether or not I had a picture. As for our family stones, there are none, but I have put their names on and will add more information as I get it put together. We had a great time at this cemetery and they would love to have family members come and clean it up. They were talking about selling the place as well and hopefully new owners would be as accommodating. They were very nice! And helpful! P.S. Found no Alice Butler stone....

RE: Alice Butler
Lots of good ideas and I will try my hardest to get there before I leave the area. I was out in the area today (went to a Renaissance Faire and then took my granddaughter geocaching on the way home. I meant to try to find the cemetery too but forgot the directions. If it doesn't rain as predicted, I will go back tomorrow and try.

Great idea on the notepad. I have done that but don't usually. And I figured I would try to find the two I see on the list of those they still need but in particular the one that doesn't mention any problems. I will however try to find Alice too. Thanks for the directions on where I might. All very helpful VJ!!! :) Jeanne

Hi, I met with 3 very nice people yesterday, at the Butler-Davudson cemetery outside of Monmouth, Oregon. I would like to make contact with the again, is it possible to share my information to them, or visa-versa? They should remember me, as I escorted them up to the cemetery and scouted around for graves. Larry the Handy-man.

RE: more on cemetery
I didn't see a map, this is what I saw;

The cemetery is very overgrown. It was a public cemetery; however, it is located on private property. To reach it, you turn W from 99W onto Main Street in Monmouth. Going .5 mile you then turn S (left) on Whitman and follow Whitman which turns into Kings Valley Highway for 1.5 miles. Kings Valley Hwy bends W so you then turn S on an unmarked road with the signs 11270-11290-11300. Traveling .4 mile you reach Gary Beckley's home (a green house). He will take you to the cemetery.

I have been out in that area looking for the cemetery before so I sort of know what the area looks like. Does this sound correct to you? Jeanne

Butler Davidson
Like the previous writer, there are family members I am looking for in this cemetery. I can't even figure out where it is. The local libraries have books on the different cemeteries that include Butler Davidson and the family members I am checking on, are listed as having no stones too. I would just like to see how it lies at this point and appreciate whoever took the picture of the sign and the few gravestones that are there. Any info on how to find it would be cool. I promise not to trespass.
