Bio and Links
Bio Photo After looking at a 1931 plat book and finding my great grandfather John Pennel owned land near De Soto Wisconsin, that got me hooked on researching my family line.I finished my research and needed to do more,I love walking through cemeteries,so I decided to take pictures for other families. It's like finding treasure when I find a grave marker. The old cemeteries are the ones that I don't want forgotten. Some are in bad shape, and I try hard to get the name off the old stones. Sometimes I have to dig the grass that has grown over the old marker, when there is just a small piece showing. It's so rewarding when I find a name. When I read some of the letters it's like a puzzle to figure who it is. I love the challenge. On find a grave I meet relatives that I never knew and we work together researching our families. Find A Grave is a wonderful place.
The families I have been working on for my husband, are: Berryman, Schwingle, Blabaum, Bartle, Paulson, Engan. My family Pennel, Hastings, Bates, Strong, Morris, Britting, Horn

RE: Crest and Christian Bugbee
Thanks, that is really a help and I will check out those listings and photos. Its been difficult trying to figure out the true story of who these people were and the gravestone data is crucial in piecing it all together. Thank you for making that extra effort to clarify this information. It makes such a difference to me and I do appreciate it. - Allison

RE: Crest and Christian Bugbee
Thank you so much for these photos. They are particularly crucial to my research of the Bugbee family and are essential to helping explain and document a very otherwise unresolvable section of my family tree. I appreciate the detail of your photos and understand that it is still difficult to read them because of the poor condition of the stones. So I thank you for your helpful note about the DOBs of each. DOD for Christian looks like 1898 to me, I wondered if you agreed. I was just wondering, just to be sure, was the close up of Christian Bugbee's stone from another side of that larger stone or was it a separate stone? I see some grass growing at the bottom of Christian's stone and was just curious. And it really was Christian Bugbee and not a mis-listing with another last name that got mixed up? I only ask because I'm just having a lot of difficulty finding any information on a Christian Bugbee, which is puzzling. Crest E L's inscription is just about impossible to see but I was wondering if you thought the DOD could be May 11 1890, I'm not sure. So thanks again for your time and effort in obtaining and posting these photos and I really appreciate your help in trying to decipher them. - Allison

Thanks for the heads-up, re: #58777193, 58777208 and 39179626. Have "kept" the oldest entry, and moved the two photos to that one. Obviously when the first cemetery inventory was done - his name was added twice to that list. When the village decided to create a "memory garden" (for dead infants, and persons whose graves were unmarked), Mr. Haney's name was inadvertently placed onto that list (also) by the volunteers. I never thought to cross-match the one to the other. The original list was bulk-uploaded to Find A Grave, using an Excel spreadsheet (several 100 entries, all at once). The errors have been sorted-out thanks to your keen eye and observations! THANK YOU.

P.S. My son's ancestors (SCHIEFFER) are buried in St. Mary's. Johann Peter donated the land for the burial ground, the church, and part of the funding to erect the original church building.
