RE: Owen and Margaret Sharkey

Sorry for the delay. I finally made it back to the city offices and the cemetery records list Bridget as the daughter of Margaret, who has a maiden name of O'Donald. Hope that helps!

Woods @ St. Gert's
I uploaded a photo of the Winifred Woods stone. The cemetery index has two listings for Winifred Woods. The one in 1945 is not engraved on the stone. For clarification, you may want to contact the cemetery. Could be one of her grand daughters?

RE: Owen and Margaret Sharkey

You are very welcome! What I have found is that persons who passed away during that particular time period were layed to rest with both a headstone and what I call a foot stone. The foot stones typically have a raised name across the top of them or initials of the deceased engraved into the side of them.

The big headstone is for both Owen and Bridget. The little foot stone directly behind the headstone is Owen's "foot stone". On the top of it it reads FATHER. It's pretty weathered, but I could trace out the raised protion with my fingers. I forgot to mention that in the notes section when I posted the photo.

The little stone off to the side says "BRIDGET" on the top of it. My thought was that they were father/daughter based on the age differences. Margaret is not mentioned on the stone and there is no marker for Anthony, but records indicate that they are there. Owen passed before Margaret so maybe she saw to it that he had a stone and when she passed there was no one to attend to this or maybe there wasn't the money for one. I do see that a lot when I take photographs.

If I think about it, next time I got to the cemetery record office I can see if the records mention who Bridget's parents were if you are still wondering. Hope this makes sense! If you need anything else just ask!

Margaret and Anthony's grave is not marked. They are however in the same lot as Owen and Bridget. I posted an overview photo of the lot on their memorials.
