Hi, I've been interested in getting information about my ancestors for years but never had the time, well in the past year I started my search. |
I'm a mother of two girls and live in Tx. Although we have lived in several different states and even overseas. I'm originally from Louisiana.
I'm looking for information on my Dad's side the DuBroc's of Avoyelles parish in Louisiana.

although i dont see a name of whom you are related to, i can presume that you are wanting information on Dubroc Sr. if that is the case, my mom would have quite a bit of information about him, as rose dubroc is her aunt. not sure if you are aware but Leontine and Rosa both have the same grandfather, Jean Joseph Knoll. last week i was doing research on Rosa's other brothers and sisters(10 total)and was shocked when i saw the name mary knoll vead come up. that had to have made rosa and leontine first cousins. Jean knoll is my great great grandfather. without printing your name, please let me know what relation you are to Dubroc, sr. thanks

Joseph Jon DuBroc moved from Bakerfield, CA to Columbus, OH on 8/6/06 where he on died 10/6/06. He is buried at the Blendon Township Cemetery on Hempstead Rd. in Westerville, OH which is across the street from his youngest daughter Michele White.
He lived in northern Ohio back in the 40's. I think he told me Toledo, OH. Later he moved to Chicago, IL where he meet Bertha Minerva Paavola and married in 1948. Perhaps a census serach of Ohio or Illinois will provide more info?!?! Very shortly after they moved to Los Angeles area, CA. They bought their first home 16738 Los Alimos St., Granada Hills, CA in 1953 (I have a picture of the home when it was first purchased and will get send it to you. In 1968 they moved to 10731 Amigo Ave., Northridge, CA (where you and ur family came to visit). They divorced in 1984. Joseph moved to Lake Isabella, CA where he later married his 4th wife, Betty (I think it was 1994 or 1995. In 2004 or 2005 they moved to Bakersfield, CA. In 2006 he moved to Ohio and Betty remained in CA.
I know this doesn't get you any closer to finding Joseph Leon DuBroc's birth parents, but I will be visiting Una DuBroc's only son, Moore Saucier, Jr. while we are in New Orleans this June. He has a lot of information and perhaps he would know the birth parents.
I'm not able to find where Joseph Leon DuBroc was buried in LA. My mom probably knows is it was in Echo or New Orleans. I know he passed in his sleep from a heart attack at my parent's home in Granada Hills, CA (his obituary says Sun Valley, CA but that is incorrect). I will need to find the grave site pictures I have of Mary Lee DuBroc (Jospeh Leon's 2nd wife) and her son Gabriel Penn ____?____ (forget his last name). It's possible that JLD is buried next to them. If not, he must be buried next to his first wife Azelie (at least if my dad had any say in it.)
JLD also had another son when married to Mary Lee. His name is Louis L DuBrock who was born in Dec 1931. He lives in Metairie with his wife Mitzie (previous searchs mention Ola DuBrock so perhaps Mitzie is her nick name?) They have one son, Darren L DuBrock and I believe he lives in The Colony, TX. He would be about 48 yrs old. NOTE: they spell their last name with a "K". It's possible that JLD was buried in Metairie?!?!

I agree with you. I too cannot find Joseph Leon's parents.
I suspect that he may have been baptized at St. Francis De Sales in Echo. I have a partial records of the baptisms there. I did find Joseph Leon & Azelie's daughter Marie Una baptized there in 1907. Unfortunatly I do not have Joseph Jon's baptismal record. I would suspect it is also at St. Francis.
The 1920 census shows Leon & Azelie and their daughter living in Echo.
The 1930 census shows Joseph Jon living with his father & stepmother in New Orleans.
I would suggest contacting St. Francis to ask about both Leon & Jon' baptismal records.
Hope this helps you.
