RE: Pictures of Thomas Roper Cemetery
Jerry, your directions were perfect. We opened the gate and drove straight (well, not straight) to the cemetery. It was a tight fit for the Mountaineer at the end but she got us within a hundred feet of the site. It was exactly one mile to where we stopped. Looking at the patch of uncut timber on the site indicated that it was a large cemetery. There were a lot of depressions, signs of more graves, but we didn't dig around to find markers. We couldn't tell much about where the plantation site or the mill was but there was a sudden drop of elevation just beyond the cemetery. My regret is that I never take enough pictures but if you want, I'll share them. The GPS coordinates are N35.07202 - W79.85650.

Bathon family
Another member of Find A Grave had asked me about the Bathon family as I had photographed some stones in the cemetery where it is thought she is buried. I saw your name on their contributor page and thought you might be interested in this article:

Georgia Mangham, Worth county
Are you sure you have the correct husband linked to her? Maybe there is a cenotaph memorial to her husband in Hillcrest cem. of Worth County.
I found a listing for W. H. Mangham (no dates) in the cemetery book for Worth county--next to her.

Have you asked at the cemetery office?

About the burial location?

Sometimes death certificates are wrong or relocated to another cemetery at a later date. Cemetery office should have information.

RE: Elusive Grave of Lewis Griffin Roper
No, my looking around for graves days- are over. I have had hip, knee and spine problems, so vey little walking. Plus being 77.
You wrote me because of a grave I did?

Most of the graves I have done in Randolph are my kin.

I looked through my Roper's and found none in Randolph. Some in Muscogee-which is nearby-
None with that name.

RE: Grave of Lewis Washington Roper
Hi, Jerry,
I wish I could help you more, but Clay County has exploded in growth/sprawl and there are many abandoned little cemeteries that can no longer be found here. Wish I could help you out. Good luck in your search.
