Bio and Links
Bio Photo I come from a large family, 6 siblings. Five boys and yes 1 girl, ME. As a young girl I have always been interested in my heritage. I started out early tracking ancestors as best I could by asking questions,PC's were not around then!!!! and my family didn't live near us for me to drag out information. Regardless of whos marker I find, I often wonder where their/my people came from, what they were like, what their life was about, what they died from, what their babies died from and how they coped with the death of a child, especially several year after year.

My parents Charles M. Bates and Devera Iona Dowdy Bates have searched for many years to uncover our history and found some truth and not so true to the "it is said". I believe that genology is a journey in life and it is for you or it is not. However, your family heritage being passed from one generation to another, is a honor to give and to receive. It is who you are good or bad!!!!!!
I wish you all the success in your journey and hope that you find as many family members as you can. FAG has been a major part of my search and I am grateful to the members for all that they do.
If I have created a member of your familys memorial, I will be more than happy to transfer to you so long as they are not part of mine. Thank You.

Barsheba Ann Bogan
Hey, Cuz,
Just wondering if you have any information on Barsheba (Bathsheba) Ann Bogan that married Elijah Scales on 1/11/38. I'm looking for proof of where and when she was born, and where and when she died. I've got 1818 and 1849, but I cannot prove either date, nor can I prove the birth/death place. I figured she probably died in Warrick Co., IN, but don't know where she's buried either! I'm in a mess. Any chance you would know?

Hi Becky -saw your listing of John Purcell's grave at New Harmony Cemetery in Cedartown, GA. Would you know this person by chance. There was a "Bates" Purcell according to my deceased mother's story-wondered if this John Purcell was in any way connected to you/your family. I so wish to get in touch with any descendants of Mr. John Purcell and his wife, May Green Purcell as they were related to my grandparents, Wm. This Willis and Lucinda Willis and their daughter, Lula Victoria Willis Steele. Thanks so much for any help you might provide me.

Mary Ann Miller/Angel Scales
Mary Ann Miller was married to William Angel. Her Birth was 3/16/1834 death 2/2/1911. They were my gg grand parents. My family has been searching for Wm for years. We have copy of marriage license, census records etc. and they had 5 children. Jehu Hampton was my great grand father. Mary Ann married Wm Scales after Wm Angel. A book was written by Pearl Pugh "The Angell's Trail" which has a lot of records and info on the Angel Family. We would love to know when, why or where William went or was buried. Any info can be sent to
