I come from a large family, 6 siblings. Five boys and yes 1 girl, ME. As a young girl I have always been interested in my heritage. I started out early tracking ancesters as best I could by asking questions,PC's were not around then!!!! and my family didn't live near us for me to drag out information. Regardless of whos marker I find, I often wonder where their/my people came from, what they were like, what their life was about, what they died from, what their babies died from and how they coped with the death of a child, especially several year after year.
My parents Charles M. Bates and Devera Iona Dowdy Bates have searched for many years to uncover our history and found some truth and not so true to the "it is said". I believe that genology is a journey in life and it is for you or it is not. However,your family heritage being passed from one generation to another, is a honor to give and to receive. It is who you are good or bad!!!!!!
I wish you all the success in your journey and hope that you find as many family members as you can. FAG has been a majjjjjjjjjjjjjjor part of my search and I am grateful to it's members for all that they do. Thank You.

So nice to hear from you Becky. James Dennis Geary was my Gr. Grandfather, married Sarah J Swann.
Children: Claude; Maude; Pearl; Archie
Claude & Hazel's children: Gerald, Dorothy, Billy
other's I'm not positive about. Faye did live with them for a while and I believe she also lived with my grandparents as I have numerous photos with her in them.
I didn't find out until the past few years that Maude was even married and had children. I always thought that she must have died young as no one ever spoke of her much. She did marry Norvil Madden and had daughters Elzada, and Faye is all I know for sure. They also had a son but can't remember without looking it up what his name is.
