Bio and Links
Bio Photo Born and raised in Van Wert, Ridge Township, OH. I have four (4) direct ancestry family names that arrived in VWO before 1870: Smith, Riley, Raudabaugh & Elsea. Family of my own name were late comers, not arriving until about 1910, Edgar, Everett & James Kouts (brothers).

John C. & Emaline Witty Smith came to VWO after the Civil War with nine sons & some of their families.

George Riley & family came around the same time with my Grandfather Benjamin David Riley being born in VWO in 1867 (son of Anthony Frederick Riley).

Levi Raudabaugh & family came to VWO in the seventies.

Phoebe Elsea came with her mother Mrs. A. J. (Rebecca Bennett Elsea) Point in the sixties. Phoebe married Peter Raudabaugh in 1880.

Extended families and "kissin' cousins" include (by order of relationship and interest):
Fudge, Bellsfield, Kermickle or Carmichael, Weisenborn, Atkinson, Groscost, Boyd, Collins, Deal, Agler, Stripe, Miller, McCollum, Coil, Loth, Ainsworth, Hoblet, Corathers, Fisher, Conn, Spicer, Dixon, Spoor, Harman, Hay, Davis, Gamble, Murphy, Lininger, Matthews, Kear.

I have been doing genealogy research on my family for more than forty years. My ancestral family names lead back to over twenty Revolutionary War Patriots and I tend to document with verifiable & legible records.

Feel free to use my pictures on or contact me personally for certification information.

I will gladly accept management responsibility for any of my primary families.

RE: Anna Marie Elsea
I entered the photo for Anna Elsea as well as submitted edits for the plot and dates of birth/death. The original date of birth had her born 20 years prior to Reuben. Both Reuben and Anna are buried beside eachother with Mother and Father on their headstones. Thanks

Anna Marie Elsea
I accessed Woodlawn records at the library today and found that Reuben is buried in section 20, lot 245 and a Maria A. Elsea 1858-1938 is buried next to him in section 20, lot 246. On Reuben's headstone it says Father and on Maria's it says Mother. I did not see any other Elsea's in the library records. I am of no relation. Before I add the record/photo for Maria A. Elsea I wanted to be sure she is not the same person as Anna Marie Elsea.

Vernie E Elsey photo request
Paul, In searching for a photo for Vernie Ethel Elsey, I discovered that on her stone the name is spelled "Elzey" #11862816 and if you search Forest Cemetery under this name she already has a photo. I reported the duplicate to Natalie Herdman who created the second memorial. Doug Kohli

RE: Charlotte Matthews
I don't think Charlotte and Calla are the same person. In 1920 Calla is 27, In 1930 Charlotte is 44 and she was 39 at the age of her marriage to William. If the census records are accurate Charlotte can't be Calla.

RE: Charlotte Matthews
Thanks for telling me about Margaret because I couldn't find her. One mystery remains. What became of William's first wife Calla, apparently the mother of his only child. She is listed in the 1920 census with W M Matthews (lawyer) at age 27.

Charlotte Matthews
I just sent you an edit for Charlotte's memorial which I need to explain. You have her linked to Edwin and Edna Matthews as her parents. Per the 1900 census Edwin and Edna had only one daughter, Margaret born in 1887. Charlotte Matthews does not appear in the census for Montgomery County until 1930 when she was listed as the wife of William M Matthews who was a son of Edwin and Edna. They had been married for only five years at that time. Thus, I have asked you to remove the links to Edwin and Edna and add a link to William as her spouse.

RE: Martha Deeds Mem.- Merger
It has been merged. The one left standing is #38525590

Just a bit of info for you. Martha Deeds was at the mausoleum in Maple Grove, but the cemetery tore it down and allowed the family to take the bodies for re-burial or MG would bury them in Maple Grove.
You're welcome for the help.
