I live in Central New York State. We have four seasons, mountains and lakes here. Our area goes back to the Revolutionary War.

My journey has been a wonderful 21 years doing family research, looking through stacks of birth, baptismal, census, and cemetery records, and loving every minute of it. Also, getting any and all birth, marriage and death certificates, wills, deeds and military papers, that I can find.

My journey has taken me to Bradford Co., PA; Wethersfield, and Windsor, CT; and Hadley, Hatfield, Westfield, and Blandford, MA; Malone, Duanesburg, Schoharie, Ephratah, Syracuse, and other parts of NY.

It started after my mom passed away, not knowing much of anything about my family and now have close to 3400 names in my family tree.

Also, my love of old movies, reading mysteries, photography, quilting and knitting, keep me busy.

Happy hunting.

Vivienne

LESTER - TRIPP - LAWTON
Hello,

If your ancestor was Enoch Lester (Prudence Grovesteen), son of Mordecai Lester and Delaney Tripp, we are related through Mordecai and Delaney.

A few years back we did visit the farm that once belonged in the Tripp family that is next to the Tripp Cemetery. For personal reasons we did not go to the cemetery but talked with the owners of the farm (nice people). Also visited Braman Corners, Schenectady, New York, Union Cemetery where there are Lester families, too, nearby.

Also made a visit to Portsmouth, Rhode Island where the Lawton and Tripp families first arrived in the US.

Look forward to further discussions as the Lester family has many, many, many "cousins". My "hobby" has been tracing the Lester family down through Mordecai and Delaney. My ancestor is Mordecai Jr, brother of your Enoch Lester.

RE: Thomas Kaple Memorial-#52366474
Vivienne,
I got your request for the transfer of Thomas Kaple's memorial and just wanted to let you know that Thomas is my husband's 8th gr-grandfather...we will keep the memorial but if you have any additional info you'd like added or something you would like on the memorial, I will be happy to add it.
Dan (my hubby and apparently your cousin) descends through Thomas' son, John. John's son, Anson...Anson moved, it seems, by himself to the town of Columbia, Herkimer Co., NY and had his family there. This fact made it very difficult for us to find who his parents and siblings were for many years. We solved this mystery about 4 years ago, now.
Interested in your connection...

Melissa

Tripp Cemetery
Hi;
You can get to the Tripp Cemetery, but you have to park on the road and follow a small trail up the hill. The cemetery is very overgrown, and I tried to get photo's of any stones I could find and read. If there is no photo on the listing I did not find the stone. The cemetery is in very poor condition, one of the worst I have seen. The photo of the gate is a general photo for the cemetery listing. I do have a book which was made in the 1930's of everyone who the historian (Clarence Foote) could find, and can send you a scan of the page if you would like.

John Lyons
I am trying to find references to validate the birthplace of John as Ithaca. Have you found a document that actually tells this?

Elizabeth Hilts Perry
Hi Vivienne,
I do believe we are very distant cousins.

George W. Perry and Elizabeth Hilts Perry were parents of
Andrew Jackson Perry who married Margaret Hilts (do you know if she's related to Elizabeth?) They are parents of
William Frederick Perry who married Frances Dishaw.
They are parents of my grandfather Floyd Benjamin Perry Sr.
He married Cora Lee Hanlon. They are parents of my Dad
Floyd Benjamin Perry Jr. I am named after grandma Cora Lee.
I have been trying to locate her gravesite & that's how I found you. Can't seem to locate.

Who would your parents, grandparents be?
I have found many of the Perry clan are buried in Oak Hill in Herkimer. Most of them lived in Little Falls and Herkimer NY at one time. Both my grandfather Floyd & my dad were born in German Flatts (Danube). The family moved to St. Johnsville when he was very young.

You mentioned you'd been to Ephratah? Were you perhaps searching for Oliver Curtiss Perry, the famous train robber? I understand he is related. Do you know anything about him. I do have his life's story. Ephratah is not that far from StJ.

If you'd like to reach me other than on this site, my email is:
clpalma35@gmail.com Hope to hear from you.

Hi my name is Mike, and William Warfield of bradford county is my 4th great grandfather on my mothers side, his daughter Elmina was my 3rd great grandmother. She was married to Jabez Cooper who was from southern central New York, I believe from the town of Nichols. I am still researching and am still looking for more information on Jabez Cooper and would appreciate any information you might have.I can provide you with information on Elmina Warfield and her children and grandchildren. Thank you.

Tripp cemetery location
Dear Vivienne;
I think very few people know exactly where the location of this cemetery is because of it being overgrown by brush and trees. However, when you take a left from Rt. 7 in Quakerstreet, at the light onto Darby Hill Rd. Take a right onto Gallupville Rd. The cemetery is a little ways down the road, on top of the hill, on the right side of the road. It is just before you get to the end of the trees.
On the bottom of each picture of the cemetery entrance on each memorial is a name of the volunteer that took these pics. Click on his name:Thomas Dunne and contact him. He may be able to give you better directions, or perhaps even show you where it is if you make some kind of plans. Yes, I am related to a bunch of Lawtons. Am doing their history for my kids and grandkids. It's a very interesting history!
Good luck! G. Costello
