Bio and Links
Bio Photo I started doing my geneology on the Garrett/Shields/McQuary/Dozier Families some years ago and now it has just taken over since I've been retired. I enjoy finding grave markers of family members that I can attach to my ancestry pages that has info that I have not been able to find other wise! Finding family and them finding me has been great. So if I can help anyone else I certainly will do so if able.

Leo Amado Vigil
Below is another obit for Leo. His wife Mary Ellen, was so happy that Leo finally got to rest next to his mother who passed shortly after his birth. The picture is lovely.

Leo A. Vigil (1926 - 2010)
Leo A. Vigil, a resident of Taylor, Michigan passed away October 26, 2010 after an extended illness.

He was born at the YNB Ranch near Bueyeros, New Mexico on July 12, 1926 to Juan Leopoldo Vigil and Amanda Gonzales Vigil, both members of prominent ranching families.

His mother died at the time of his birth and Leo lived with various relatives until sent to St. Anthony’s Orphanage in Albuquerque, New Mexico at an early age. Later he entered Father Flanagan’s Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska. Here he received a good education and excelled in sports, being named “All American” in football.

After a tour in the Army Air Force he enrolled at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana where he received his degree. At Notre Dame he worked as a student gym instructor and was a member of the boxing team in the 145lb. weight class and became known for his part in a 54 second shut-out over the contender of Purdue University.

After college, Leo became a member of the Taylor Michigan School System as an elementary teacher and coach where he was once named Teacher of the Year. He retired from there after teaching for over 35 years.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents and two young brothers. He is survived by Mary Ellen, his wife of 25 years, a step-daughter, Elizabeth Heiser, six step-grandchildren, six step-great grandchildren and several relatives and friends living in New Mexico. He also leaves many dear friends in Taylor to mourn his loss.

Leo was known for his benevolence and generosity and he often went out of his way to help those in need. He kept in touch with family and old friends and loved to exchange stories of the past with them.

Friends are invited to a visitation at the Taylor Chapel of the Voran Funeral Home

RE: John Kleinert
Hey Judy -
I took this photo several years ago when I was in the practice of not disturbing headstones and photographing them as I found them. I will definitely clear it off and take a better photo next time I'm in the area!
Happy graving?

John Walter Seals 1918-1984
Hi Judy:
I see that you added the photo of John Walter Seals who is buried in the Avalon cemetery. I am doing a family search for his daughter and wondered where you happened to get this photo of John Seals? And also if you have any other info on this family tree. Thanks for any help, I would appreciate it!!

Fuqua
Sorry about all of the messages. You can delete them if you want.

I have added the photo of Codene's grave. I also did some research and it turns out that Codene is the wife of Woodrow Fuqua, and the daughter of Remus Palmer. She was only 20 at the time of her death, poor girl.

Perhaps Woodrow and Codene, or his second wife if he had one, had a baby that died? One that was named after Codene? Maybe that's the source of the misinformation.

RE: Fuqua
I will look and get back with you.

Just a heads up...most online family trees are not very accurate. I've found that out the hard way.

I'll let you know as soon as possible!

Fuqua
Are you sure about the parents of Codene Fuqua? The individuals that you sent me are about the same age as Codene. Therefore, I don't think that they are the correct parents.

Please let me know, and I will be happy to add to the memorial.
