|Both of my parents families were from Williamson and Hickman Counties back to the early 1800. My home town is Nashville, Tennessee, however we now live in Avon Park, Florida. I would be very happy to look up any grave or grave marker in Highlands or Polk County.|

Looked at his son Howard Douglas Chandler's DC. It gives father's name as Gib Marshall Chandler. Son Walter shows Gib Chandler. No doubt his name is Gilbert. If I find anything else will let you know. By the way Gilbert was married before marrying Sallie. Look at her memorial. I made a note there, and 1910 census shows the marriage was a 2nd one for him.

1850-1860 Gilbert Chandler Hickman CO. He was living with his parents Isaac and Matilda in 1850 age 1. 1860.Gilbert, age 12 and several of his siblings were living with Joel and Laura Jones. Most Family Trees give his name as Gilbert Marshall or Gilbert M., but nothing to back up the name as Marshall. His DC does show Gilbert. 1910 Census does show Gilbert M. I will add that to the bio. Possible that James in 1900 was a mistake that the enumerator made, as they had a son James and he could have just written James down instead of Gilbert. 1900 seems to be the only reference to his name as James. There are a lot of mistakes in the census on names. There is enough proof that his name was Gilbert, but only 1900 as James.
