Genealogy is my passion. It is not the dates or the places that I seek, but the challenges, the history, the stories that my ancestors have inside them that I want to discover. My research began when I moved to Illinois in the 70s. My mother always wanted to know about her Clevenger roots which stemmed from Wayne County, IL. |
If you know anything about Wayne County, IL, you will know that it was plagued with a fire in 1886 which destroyed most of the tools that we genealogists need to piece patterns of lives together. I can't tell you how many trips I made down to Fairfield, Illinois, but it was so many that the County Clerk offered to lock me in one night so I could finish the box of charred records that I was sifting through. Being a scaredy-cat, I declined, much to my regret these days.
Find A Grave has allowed me to add 40 years of genealogy to my ancestors. Thank you for this wonderful free platform and to all those volunteers who have tirelessly donated their time in cataloging cemeteries.
I am a resident of Illinois, but also Texas and California. My educational background is Mathematics and my professional experience was as a project manager. I have one daughter who sad to say is not interested in Genealogy, however, she has explicit instructions to not throw any of it away, after I am gone.
My main interests are in these families:
Clevenger Scofield Candee Beall Weed Dunn Clark Sinnett Frey Betts Weed Stevens Myers Wright Trester Briddell Stinnett Brinton Tharp Coddington Atherton Cushman and Hall.
The localities are Wayne County, IL; Stamford. Connecticut; Winchester, VA; Hampshire County, VA now WV; Troy, New York; Daviess County, KY; Allegany & Montgomery Counties, Maryland; and Harrison County, VA now WV.
I am a firm believer in our ancestors' migration patterns. Whenever possible, I try to follow the families traveling together, because they tend to intermarry.
Happy Hunting, Candee email is firstname.lastname@example.org

Anna Betts memorial photo as per your request. All the inscription is not easily read but enough to confirm this is her marker.

I just uploaded a photo for Samuel Clark that does not match the description. However, there are no other Clarks shown in Trumbell (Old) Cemetery. I suspect it may be a replacement or extra marker for a worn stone - it looks too new. The flag fits him as well.
If you suspect this is the wrong photo, just e-mail me and I'll remove it.
By the way, there are many Clarks and decendents still in Lebanon. In fact, I live not far from Clark Rd.

Just dropping by to say thank you for the wonderful job you have done in contributing to find a grave.
This has been most helpful in my Beall research. Perhaps someday I will be able to travel to Maryland to visit their graves and do more research.
Also on facebook.

Hi! Hope you are well! I was out at Long Ridge Cemetery in Stamford, CT this past week and found Aaron's wife's grave... there is an unmarked spot beside her that could be his grave site... and she is buried next to his parents so I'd guess that he is there as well. I was hoping to speak with someone in the office but there's not one on site... I took photos of the family plot if you'd like me to add them to his memorial... I didn't want to add them without checking with you first! Just let me know what you'd like to do... I can send them through email if you'd like to see them before they are on the memorial! Take care! Dana

you're most welcome. there are several other candee family members interred in the same plot. i would be happy to take and post photos of those also if you would like.
Unfortunately I don't know anything about Silas and Nancy.

Thanks for the correction. I fixed the date, and transferred this memorial to you, along with a couple of others that are related. Not a relative--just happened to take the photos, so am happy to send them along to you! Please let me know if you'd like me to transfer any other memorials.

Yes, Nehemiah Candee is my descendant. He is my patriot for membership into The Daughters of the American Revolution.

Links have been made. I did not change my research of place of marriage from Brooklyn to Troy, New York, but put it at the bottom of the bio area as a SAC. Nice to meet you, from the Boyd side of anscestors. You are welcome to add a picture, if there is no room, you are welcome to sponsor it to add up to twenty. There are alot of Clarks in Monroe History, and most were from New York; if you have any special ones you would like me to look up at our local archives, let me know. I just have not spent any time on that part yet.
Please use the edit button at the top of each memorial, to send suggestions, as that sends me a direct email with the links to the memorial in question. It ensures better accuracy of having info added in a timely manner.
