May I have your permission to copy the gravestone photo for Eunie Doyle Hancock in San Marcos Cemetery to my Ancestry tree? I will give you full credit for the photo. Thanks so much.

Thank you very much. It's a very good and legible picture of their double-headstone. I will post it and state I have your permission to use the photo you took of their double-headstone. Thanks again!

Louie Paul Wagner - Memorial# 28010361
Hello, You posted a very good photo to Memorial# 87313658 for Ethlyn Hedwig (Schaefer) Wagner which is a photo of her and her husband's Double-Headstone. Her husband Louie Paul Wagner is Find A Grave Memorial#28010361. I would like your permission, to post the same photo of their Double-Headstone to her husband's memorial.
Or, could you post the photo to Louie's Memorial# 28010361 if you have time?
Thank you very much.
Best regards,
Elizabeth "Bitsy" (Gibson) Wagner and Chester Wagner.

Thank you so very much for not only the transfers but also for the kind note about Dr. Juel. I am sure their daughter will be pleased to know he is so well liked and remembered at Texas State U. I am forwarding your comments to her.

I feel that my previous message was a bit curt. It was not my intention to be rude but it was late, I was tired and my ability to compose anything meaningful was compromised. I meant no offense.

That said, I have much more information to add to his memorial including the epitaph, the notice of his death published in the Lockhart Post Register in 1918 and his listing as published in the Casualty List published in the same paper.

He trained under Maj. Gen. Leaonard Wood and was one of the first to die in the Influenza Pandemic. When his was sent home, he arrived with a letter from the Maj. Gen. stating that he was a good soldier.

I'm currently trying to get permission to remove the tree from in front of this marker. If it is not removed soon, the stone will be irreparably damaged. He has not direct descendants but his family tree is extensive.

I'm in contact with the cemetery association at the moment. I'm hoping to find kin who will assist in caring for his grave. I would do it myself but I am about 3 hours away.

His marker is historically significant for a number of reasons. It is not a government issued stone. It must have been quite expensive at the time; it is large, ornate and made of very fine marble.

The edging is also made of the same marble and, at the bottom, has two indents that seem to be made for mourners to kneel. I've not seen this design before. I've knelt there and, frankly, it's impressively comfortable. The inclusion of the ceramic/porcelain photograph makes it all the more stunning.

Wow - this is long. My brain is functioning this morning. :-)

Can you tell me where you obtained theses photos? I do not recall giving anyone permission to post them. Also, his name is Jessie.

Sorry I missed lunch. I'm in Port Aransas for a few days. I'm glad to know you are fine.
Keep up the good work!
