Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been doing genealogy research for nearly 30 years. I started after winning a set of binders full of another family members family research at a family reunion.
Now I can't stop!

I feel that is very important that everyone that has passed on be remembered. I will try to enter every name I can document from any cemetery for those loved ones searching for them.

I know how hard it is to search for an early ancestor and find they are too far away for you to visit their final resting place.

I especially hold dear the headstones from the early 1900's and back. Most were not as good of a quality of stone as we have today. Most of them are getting hard to read, some are already impossible to read. I just hope that, as a group, we can photograph these so that they don't become "unknown" graves.

I wish I could visit all the grave sites I list but that would be impossible. That is where, we as a group, must help each other to make any corrections and take any photos needed to remember those that have passed on.

If I am managing a memorial of someone related to you please ask for a transfer. As long as they are not related to me I will gladly transfer them to any family member. Family should be with family!

RE: Mattie Turner Leslie &/or Mattie T. Leslie
Thanks Perry, You were exactly correct.

I spoke to my cousin Peggy Leslie Prosser last night and her grandma Mattie Turner Leslie is buried in the "LESLIE CEMETERY" for sure because she was at the funeral.

The other Mattie T. Leslie is a distant relative
and the T is for Thompson and she married George Franklin Leslie who is a relative of her grandfather Henry Hodges Leslie. Henry Hodges Leslie is married to Mattie Turner Leslie. Peggy said they did not see Mattie T. and George but just a few times. This Mattie is buried at New Haven Church Cemetery.

The reason it was confusing to me is all the family including Leslies and Griffins' went to New Haven Church for years.

Thanks,
Dorothy Griffin

RE: Mattie Turner Leslie &/or Mattie T. Leslie
It looks like you were the creator of the obit of Mattie Turner Leslie for the LESLIE CEMETERY, and Cecil Augustus Fountain was the creator for the Obit for the New Haven Cemetery in the name of Mattie T. Leslie.

1. Mattie Turner Leslie according to the obit said her husband was Henry Hodges Leslie. and
2. Mattie T. Leslie was married to George F. Leslie. Both of he Mattie's have different birthday's and date of death.

I will contact her grand daughter to see if she remembers where her grandmother was buried.

Thanks,
Dorothy Griffin

Mattie Turner Leslie &/or Mattie T. Leslie
The above subject person is one in the same. She is my Aunt, she is sister to My grandmother Minnie Bell Turner.

While researching info for a "Gilmore Family Tree" I have found that Mattie Turner Leslie and
Mattie T. Leslie are the same person.

She is buried in two different cemeteries, New Haven Baptist Cemetery, Twiggs County, Ga. #49056878, AND Leslie Cemetery, Twiggs County,
#92788035. The Only difference is she was married
to Henry Hodges Leslie, in the Leslie Cemetery record. She was married to George F. Leslie in the New Haven Cemetery and when you take a look at the records you will see that the dates of birth and dates of death are different.

Is there anyway to determine which cemetery her
body is actually in.

The only person living is her Grand daughter Peggy
Leslie Prosser, who lives in Gordon, Ga. Phone: 478-628-5186 or Cell: 478-414-0496. Peggy is my 1st cousin. The Creator of the info at Leslie Cemetery is Perry N. Leslie. In New Haven Cemetery the creator is Cecil Augustus Fountain.

My e-mail is Dorothy.grifin28@yahoo.com, let me know what the outcome is going to be.

Thanks,
Dorothy

Otto Dawson photo
Thank you so very much for the Otto Dawson photo; he was a second cousin to my mother. I'm happy to see his gravestone, as I "reconstruct" my great-great grandparents' family since immigration in the mid-1800's! You've done a very kind thing. Kathryn Haenggi Robinett
