RE: Memorial #50278585
Hi Jackie,
I have the same thing in my family where the last name is spelled various ways. I wouldn't spend too much effort trying to solve the issue. Just remember that many of these folks early on could neither read nor write so someone wrote down what they heard spoken. For NY examples, Brannan, Brannen, Brannon, Branning. Those are all my family, just spelled differently. We came down as Brannan and were told that was the correct spelling.

If you are dealing with male direct line decent vs marriage, they probably didn't know how to spell it. Sometimes folks just choose to alter the spelling too. I have that in other lines.
Just things to keep us on our toes. Also, I'm sure you've noticed that you can't count on the newspapers or certificates either. On many of the certificates I've actually been able to get, the person reporting the death, didn't know who the persons parents were or in the case of females, their maiden names. Sometimes I end up very disapointed with those relatives.

If he is your father, we would be glad to transfer him to you. Please go to his memorial, and click on "edit" in the top right-hand corner. A page will come up, simply ask for a transfer, and give us your findagrave number (at the top of your home page).

Thank you for sponsoring Mr. McMahon's memmorial.
That was a nice thing to do. Thank you, too, for adding the tombstone photo.
