|I've been doing genealogy research for about 35 years. I started before you could turn on your computer and do the research from your home. While I enjoy the convenience of using the internet to do research, I still enjoy the more "hands on" approach. I've taken many trips over the years to courthouses, cemeteries, to visit elderly family members, etc. along the way. For me, the online research just doesn't bring the same satisfaction that I feel when I am able to go dig up the information in person. I've enjoyed meeting cousins that I never knew I had, and I've also been able to reconnect with family members that I've lost contact with over the years. This has become a great hobby, and I've enjoyed learning all the interesting stories, both good and bad, about my family history. I hope I have and am playing some small part in getting younger members of my family interested in what came before them. |
I'm happy to share whatever information that I have. Feel free to use the grave photos that I've added without contacting me. I've uploaded them for your use. All I ask is that you list where you got the photo along with the cemetery, city, state so others can find the grave if they wish to visit it. I'm happy to take photos of graves in my area for other people and upload them to memorials here. I think of it as a kind of payment for those who have been kind enough to get photos for me. I try to take the kind of photos that I would like to have....well focused, as readable as possible, and a good angle.
As for the more PERSONAL PHOTOS, I'd like to be contacted before anyone adds them to another website or uses them in any other way. I love sharing, but I also like to know where and how my research and/or personal family photos will be used, and I like to know that credit is given to the proper individual(s) if my research or photos are used by others. I feel it's extremely important that future researchers be able to get to original sources of pictures and other documents the same way that I and others did. It's very frustrating to see a supposed photo of someone on the internet, but the person posting the photo doesn't have the original, can't tell you where the original is or any other information about it, and doesn't even know for sure that the photo is correctly identified.
I'm happy to transfer any memorials that don't belong to my family. Just let me know if I am managing a memorial which is of your family member, and I'll get it transferred to you ASAP if I'm not related. I like to see memorials in the hands of family or friends who can add to the memorial and make it the best it can be.

I don't have any information on Melton Crawford or his family. I created his memorial because he was married to Louiza Kersey. She was my grandfather's first cousin. Melton and Lou were both buried at Hendricks Cemetery where a lot of other Kersey family members are buried. I am sorry that I can't help you on this. If I do run across anything on the Crawford family in the future I will let you know.

Thank you for the quick reply.

Good Evening, Sabrina:
I am doing Reed research for a friend and noticed that you photographed the headstone of Harmon W. Reed and wondered if you also were doing Reed research. I have an idea that this Harmon W. Reed remarried on April 1, 1884 to Mattie/Martha Taylor and from this union a child Charles Wesley Reed was born August 19, 1885, but I am not having success proving it. Are you doing Reed research?

Thank you so much for the picture if my ancestors' tombstone. I have only been to the area once in my life. Passing through and didn't have enough information to search at that time. Having Nancy's information was an added help. One place I had seen her as a spouse and then not so the proof is great.

Ok, that was Carter's Station that has the 2 cemetery locations and on Find A Grave they have a site for each of them.
I see that at Antioch they do talk about that other little cemetery. I guess then that the only thing that would be nice is to mark the plot section on each memorial as to if it is in that smaller section if at all possible. What do you think?
