|I've been doing genealogy research for about 35 years. I started before you could turn on your computer and do the research from your home. While I enjoy the convenience of using the internet to do research, I still enjoy the more "hands on" approach. I've taken many trips over the years to courthouses, cemeteries, to visit elderly family members, etc. along the way. For me, the online research just doesn't bring the same satisfaction that I feel when I am able to go dig up the information in person. I've enjoyed meeting cousins that I never knew I had, and I've also been able to reconnect with family members that I've lost contact with over the years. This has become a great hobby, and I've enjoyed learning all the interesting stories, both good and bad, about my family history. I hope I have and am playing some small part in getting younger members of my family interested in what came before them. |
I'm happy to share whatever information that I have. Feel free to use the grave photos that I've added without contacting me. I've uploaded them for your use. All I ask is that you list where you got the photo along with the cemetery, city, state so others can find the grave if they wish to visit it. I'm happy to take photos of graves in my area for other people and upload them to memorials here. I think of it as a kind of payment for those who have been kind enough to get photos for me. I try to take the kind of photos that I would like to have....well focused, as readable as possible, and a good angle.
As for the more PERSONAL PHOTOS, I'd like to be contacted before anyone adds them to another website or uses them in any other way. I love sharing, but I also like to know where and how my research and/or personal family photos will be used, and I like to know that credit is given to the proper individual(s) if my research or photos are used by others. I feel it's extremely important that future researchers be able to get to original sources of pictures and other documents the same way that I and others did. It's very frustrating to see a supposed photo of someone on the internet, but the person posting the photo doesn't have the original, can't tell you where the original is or any other information about it, and doesn't even know for sure that the photo is correctly identified.
I'm happy to transfer any memorials that don't belong to my family. Just let me know if I am managing a memorial which is of your family member, and I'll get it transferred to you ASAP if I'm not related. I like to see memorials in the hands of family or friends who can add to the memorial and make it the best it can be.

|Bev Bailey||RE: Diamond Question for you.....|
Thanks for correction of death date for John!
The "Malinda Diamond Pioneer Woman" book by Lennie Carter tells a little about William Clay. It seems to be a mystery. Sounds like they were never married. He was ordered to pay the County of Giles towards maintaining two bastard children begotten of the body of Malinda Diamond. Do not know the names of children.
|M.T. researcher||RE: Cemetery Question|
Liberty United Methodist and Avondale are two different churches/cemeteries. They are about 4 miles apart. I have visited Liberty many, many times and the photos of the markers and the memorials for those persons that I posted are located at Liberty. The markers that I took pictures of for memorials that were posted on the Liberty site by someone else are also located at Liberty. If there is someone that is listed at both locations, I don't have a answer to that at this time. If you use the same site you sent me and change avon to Liberty you should have a listing that was recorded many years ago and the number of interments at that time are far less that now. Hope this helps. Mike

|James K. Cook||RE: Mattie Tidwell|
I am not related to Mattie Lafferty Tidwell, but have been interested in the Lafferty family and their relationship with the Whitesides and other families, including my Wyatts, here in Grainger County. Are you related?
|Tom Rader||Drake Cemetey|
Sabrina, I saw where you found that the Drake Cemetery is on private property. I also went by there last year and saw a sigh that said beware of dog. I live in Southwest Florida and did not have the time to mess with a dog. I will be there sometime this summer and intend to try contacting the owner and take pictures of every stone I can find in one trip. Do you know who the property owner is and have you tried to make contact with the property owner? I think that if I had their name and phone # I could make arrangements to take the pictures. Tom
|Flying Eagle||RE: William L. Fields Grave|
I am sorry I cannot be of any help to you on William L. Fields memorial, several different people helped me transcribe the information and some was not as accurate as I would have liked. If you want me to I will delete him and you can visit the cemetery and check the info yourself. I did not take a photo of the grave site there have no clue who his spouse is. I don't live in Cedartown therefore seldom go there to visit anymore as I am over 70 years old. I will transfer him to you, delete him, or whatever you want.
|Pat Millican||RE: Randy Thomas Barry Grave|
Sorry about that. I changed it to the right person. I searched the whole cemetery for his son's grave and could not find him.
