I am the youngest daughter, Ethel Mae, of Emery Ray Bates (born Oct. 17, 1907 in Riddle, OR and died January 28, 1962 in Toledo, OR).|
His father is Thomas Jefferson Bates (headstone has Thomas F. Bates and the F is not correct) born March 17, 1836 and died January 22, 1910 on his homestead near Riddle, OR.
His mother is Flora Ethel Snow Bates. She was born June 22, 1876 and died March 17, 1922 and is also buried close to Thomas and son, Emery in the Riddle Cemetery.
I applied in June 2011 & got in August 2012 my father's Delayed Birth Certificate as his parents did not register his birth at time of his birth.

Hi :) Thank you for the note about the duplicate memorial. I copied my photo, and deleted my memorial. Graves was the original, so that is why I deleted mine. :)

Yes! These were my grandparents; I lived with them for a time and when they were on vacation, I stayed for a week with Elmer and Alma at their house. I have a photo, probably taken at an Eastern Star meeting, that was marked Elmer; am not sure if his wife is next to him. My home email is firstname.lastname@example.org; I can send you a scanned copy. Regards, Margie

It's amazing how much she looks like my Great-Aunt Elvira (my Grandmother's sister!) Thank you for sharing. BTW, my Grandmother always did say that she had family in Oregon.

Wow! My maternal grandmother was Letty Josephine Metcalf Lynch, the granddaughter (and namesake) of Lettie Jocyphine York Tomerlin (whom she never got to meet). This is the only photo that I have ever seen of what would be my great-great grandmother, I believe. I can see the family resemblance. It's too bad that she passed away so young.

I lived in Riddle in the late 50's and early 60's. My grandparents, Ralph & Effie Kinkade lived on Main Street across from the school. Did you know of them?

I have added the information and made a request to link to their daughter, Marjorie. Thank you for the information!

Yes, I would love to recive information for the Thomas Clayton Bates family, especially if you know what his wife, Louella's maiden name was.

Hello Ethel, I transferred your G grandfather's memorial to you. We only made memorials so the family could have them. War Eagle Cemetery is on a knoll overlooking the beautiful War Eagle River. If I can help in any way, let me know. Gary
