George G. C. Ray of Lake County
Rita,

I have seen your query regarding George G. C. Ray on a couple of pages back from 1999.

I believe that I can help you with this. My 4xgreat grandfather was Abel Ray of Thompson, OH, just south of Madison and LeRoy. I can prove that his father, Daniel Ray, was in Sunderland, VT during the Revolution, in 1782 serving under Captain Orange Train. There was also a William Ray that served with Daniel, but I have no idea who that is. He appears in March, 1780 under Captain Spafford. The unique problem is that there WAS no Ray family there in 1787 or 1790, leaving me with little.

I believe it is no coincidence Abel and George lived hear each other, and that Nancy Ray Sumner, his daughter, was also buried there. The mysterious William Ray, a name that appears as a witness to marriage, I believe is the key to the whole thing.

Re. Freeland Winchester
Have you any idea of the origin of the name "Freeland?" We are connected to the Winchesters, but also to Freelands.

Oh, no worries! Sorry to hear you're having trouble. (I'm afraid I can't help with that, but good luck!) And let me know if there's anything I can do for Aunt Lucy's memorial or any others I might have. *Janice

Charles L Billington
Hi Rita: I was wondering if in any of your Billington research if you had come across a Charles L. Billington, lived in Madison County, OH and Fayette County, OH around 1880?

Hi Rita - Thanks for your sponsorship! Would you like me to transfer the memorial to you? I went ahead and added more info for her and for other Uransky family members, and linked with what I found. Let me know if you want me to transfer Lucy or other Uransky memorials I might manage. Take care, *Janice
