RE: Viola Gilchrist Reaves #32861218
Orrie Pauline Rachels married Delona L. Reaves. They had 5 children, including my grandmother, Eula Bell Reaves. I don't believe any of the children are buried at Mount Serene.

RE: Viola Gilchrist Reaves #32861218
Hi there,
Thank you you for the prompt reply. I know nothing about him or his family. Supposedly, he was a Cherokee from North Georgia or North Carolina area, married Viola in Barbour County, moved out to Texas or Oklahoma, but she came back with only Pauline. Viola then married into the Reaves family, as did Pauline when she came of age.

There was a family of Rachels in Barbour County, but the initials don't match any of that family.

Viola Gilchrist Reaves #32861218
Viola Gilchrist Reaves had married once before to a man named H.M. Rachels in 1893.

They had a daughter named Orrie Pauline Rachels in 1894. This was my great grandmother. Much of that family is buried in Mount Serene Cemetery also just off of Hwy 30.

I wasn't sure if you knew about this, and if you did, perhaps you might know more about the Rachels family.

Thank you in advance,
Marshall Davis

RE: Michael Oswalt
I will try to find the information, but Michael Oswalt and his daughter, Kissy Oswalt, came to Alabama on a wagon train. Other Oswalt family members and Weaver family members came on that wagon train(s) migration. There were several wagons involved in this migration. The Dutch Fork Chapter is where I originally found this information, I believe. I will see if I can find it and I will link you up to that.

Michael Oswalt
Hi. I am a descendant of Michael Oswalt and Loduska Oswalt. Michael Oswalt 1773-1843 is buried in El Bethel Cemetery. I am trying honor him and his service by having him listed in the Daughters of 1812 and joining the Daughters of 1812. The hold up is proof of the year of his death, and I could do that with a tombstone picture. I noticed you said his tombstone had been removed. Elrod Oswalt said the original tombstone had been removed and some graves were replaced with cinder blocks and name plates. Do you have any advice for cemetery listings with his name or a picture of the cinder block and name plate with his name? Any help would be most appreciated!

RE: Mt Carmel Cemetery
Glad to be of help. I did the original survey back in 2006. I've made several treks over recently to take photos but have a way to go to get them all.
