Bio and Links
Bio Photo My paternal JESSER and JANTZ ancestors left Germany in 1833 to go to Russia in response to the request of Catherine the Great for farmers to develop southern Russia (now Ukraine). From Russia, they came to the USA at the turn of the century and settled in OK and later CO. My maternal PHILLIPS ancestors trekked from RI to PA to OH to KS and MICHAEL ancestors moved from IN to IA to CO. I've researched ancestral trees so that I have over 7,000 names entered in FTM with some German branches back to the 1400s. I love the unending search for answers to clues, especially when they fit the puzzle.

Church
Velma,
I did not look for the church elsewhere, just couldn't find any sign in the area of the cemetery. The information on the cemetery was provided by the two who wrote the cemetery book for Washita County. I had no personal knowledge myself. I am glad to find out that the ruins are still there, even if they are 1/2 mile from the cemetery. I will change the information to reflect your information. Check it out and let me know if anything else needs to be changed.

Thanks for the corrections.

Regards,
Rita

John and Kathrene Janaz
Velma,
I transferred John and Kathrene to you since they are your ggrandparents and made the change on the name Jonoz to Janaz. I did not use your suggestion "Only ruins of the church remain today." rather than indicating that there are no signs of the church, because there are no ruins of the church remaining to be seen.

Regards,
Rita
