Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a former Marine and a Viet Nam Vet. I spent 18 months in Nam.
I can only speak for myself and the photos that I have taken. I am giving my express permission for you to use my photos in any way you see fit in your family research.
I do not selfishly hoard my pictures under the pretense of a 'copyright'. WHO in their right mind refuses to share OPENLY the photo of a grave stone?
That being said....At this time I try to save all my original, large format pictures on jump drives, by cemetery and Sir name. And upon request, for the family members of a memorial, I will gladly email my originals to them as attachments after I have posted them on FAG.
They should reproduce better then the reduced size 'jpg' pictures you would be copying and pasting from the FAG site. So if you plan to copy and paste them or copy and print them for your personal ancestry site, photo albums or for other family members, feel free to email and ask me to send you my originals.
I also will gladly transfer memorials upon request.

I will try to never forget that am a volunteer out here, doing work for you, the absent family member.

Semper Fi!
Larry

Hello Larry

I have good news to report. The local veterans office located my fathers discharge records. Paper work is done and signatures should be completed next week. So barring any un-forseen snafus my father should receive his headstone soon.

most grateful,

James

Hello Larry

Thank you for taking the time and effort to locate and photograph my father's gravesite.

I recently learned that my father's gravesite is unmarked. Your photos confirmed this. My father was a WWII veteran and I am certain he would have liked a military headstone. To remedy the situation, I tried to obtain his military service records. Unfortunately, I learned his records were destroyed in a fire in St. Louis and are no longer available.

I confess this has left me at an impasse, uncertain how to proceed. However, the advice, consul, and encouragement regarding veteran affairs that you have provided will allow me to renew my efforts to get this done. You have identified a number of possibilites to obtain the information needed to obtain a military headstone. For this, my family and I are most grateful.

Thank you for helping to honor the memory of my father.

Thanks so much for our offer to check, but I can try and take care of it. I made contact with another cousin and they believe the stone is correct and who ever posted the information may have made an error. They are going to ask them to change it or delete it. Again thanks so much for your great photos.

Thanks for the photo. Wondering if you have a clue why the stone lists the DOD as 1968 when the information say 1934, which is the correct DOD. Thanks.

You asked about my father-in-law
Well, it's even worse. I'm in Reno, NV with my sister because my brother-in-law passed unexpectedly last Sunday at age 73. Great guy who was more of a brother than my real brother. We're devastated.
