RE: speer photos oakland
I volunteer at Oakland (in the visitors center) 2 or 3 afternoons a month. You're right that there are many unmarked graves, and others where the marker has sunk. And the records are a mess. I'm trying to match records with graves, and it's a very slow process.

Yes, the photoshop helped to read the date. But I didn't find the stone where you said it was - that was my question. Are you sure of the location?

On Memorial# 54341896 for Infant Speer you have a photoshopped photo that appears to say Aug 25, 1879. No name, but you said you found it in Section 7 Block 341 Lot 1 Grave 7. I photographed this lot this week and did not find this stone. You can see photos on Memorial# 54341040 and Memorial# 54341145 that show most of the lot. I'm trying to figure out if this stone might be misplaced. The dates on the stone don't match the dates in the book of April 28, 1875. (May be an error in the book.) On Martha Jane's (Memorial# 54341145) page, you can see a "lamb" stone at the base of the tall monument, and I thought perhaps this might really be infant Speers' stone, as there is nothing else on the books that it could be. It does not have any markings on it.

Thank You

Thank you Mr Wooten,

I appreciate your help with the headstone for John Farrar Whaley. I live in Texas, so I have not been able to visit the cemetery. One Find-a-grave member thought the children might be in a smaller unmarked tomb next to their grandfather.

Thank you for your help.

Best wishes,
Mark
