My Grandfather Mike Ferguson Sr started me on a journey 30+ years ago researching family history. I have found my immigrant Ferguson ancestor who came from Scotland to America as an indentured servant. I have ancestors who were Patriots in the American Revolution. I have 8 grandfathers who served in the CSA. I have ancestors who were in Texas when it was a Republic. Ancestors who died at the Alamo and other kin who were massacred at Goliad. There were also Ma & Pa Ferguson, Governors of the State of Texas who are related. It has been a great journey my grandfather set me out on. My ancestors started in Virginia, moved to South Carolina, then on to Mississippi and finally ending in Texas. I have many generations of kin buried in Madison Co., Texas. |

Mike, since you maintain her page in Findagrave.com, her last husband last name was spelled Layne, not Lane. He is buried in Leon County, Texas and his son married Rachel Lott and these two are buried in the Prospect Cemetery at Duck Hill. The same cemetery where Nancy's parents are buried.

A few days back my wife and I quickly searched the far end of the cemetery where most recent plots are located with three separate photo requests in hand but had to leave without any success due to the intense heat. Since it is supposed to get cooler in the near future I would be glad to make another attempt if you could provide any info as to the area that I should be searching.....thanks, Ronnie Mc

You're welcome, Mike.

Don't know of any ancestors yet, just added within the last 2 weeks, thanks for sharing !
Thank-you for adding the wonderful photos of some of the Rhodes Family in our Stockton Rural Cemetery here in C.A
I think they are a great family and have great history, photos really help with their story!

Thank you for the kind words. Since I retired from teaching, genealogy (especially Madison Co) has been my joy. When I moved here in 1975 someone said "be careful what you say because everyone is kin"! It's true. Enjoy and thank you for your interest and thanks to your grandfather for tweeking that interest in you. My dad did it for me especially when he died when I was 26 and no one knew (except my dad)how anyone was related.
I can hardly wait to see your additions.

That would be great if you can find it. I have an existing request on Find A Grave for her stone.
I ment to ask, I have a picture of Samuel Telford Ferguson's marker with 3 or 4 men standing and kneeling around the stone are you one of those men in the picture?
|Richard Ferguson||Mary Morris|
Mike thank you for the great picture of Mary's marker. I noticed the date in the margin of the picture so I guess you have had it for quit a while. Great picture! Richard
