Bio and Links
Bio Photo I'm brand new to Find A Grave but I've been doing genealogy since the late 1990's and only wish I didn't have this pesky thing called a job that keeps me from spending more time on it than I do! I live in the Pacific Northwest - about 75 miles north of Seattle and I hope to be able to get out to some local cemeteries and gather info & photos to post to Find A Grave as time permits - and definitely plan to do a lot more of it once I retire.

Aune (Berttula) Huhta
I would so much appreciate if you would transfer management of Aune #97660227 to me, I have already linked her to her husband, Charles E. Huhta and would like to link her to her parents buried in Toivola,MN. and to her siblings. Aunie was my maternal aunt. KarenS

Westlawn-Hillcrest Vets
We are currently working to identify anyone buried in Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery Omaha NE that has served in the military. If you have a loved one buried there or know of someone, please send us a message. We place flags on the graves for Memorial Day. This project is sponsored by Centennial Masonic Lodge #326.

If you can send us the names, we will be sure to include them on our list to get a flag.

Thank you for the help with this ongoing project.

RE: Franklin M. Strohecker
I think I told you that my grandson's father Dan Bennett lives in Mt Vernon, having been stationed at Whidbey Island until he retired to Mt Vernon. Josh lives in Bellingham since graduating from WWU and is a chef, having worked at a number of restaurants from there to Seattle and on one of the islands. My exec from the last ship I served is buried in Bellingham.

I confused myself thinking that Joseph H. Rantz of the Huskies crew that won gold at the 1946 Olympics was buried in your neighborhood, but on checking I see that he and his wife are in Sequim in Clallam County, shich I think is on the Olympic Peninsula. His life was the subject of a Really Good book, The Boys in the Boat, that told of how hard he worked as an almost orphan to survive and go to UW, where he was introduced to crew, and the further work he and his mates put forth to develop into national and Olympic champions.

Nice job on my classmate's memorial. I have added his Lucky Bag photo.

do you live in Mount Vernon? My son John and my son-in-law were stationed at Whidbey Island. My wife and I visited John there at tulip time, and Dan retired in Mount Vernon. Mighty pretty country around there, especially at this time of year.
