yea it would be nice to know more about the simms side, or actually both of leroy and lorettas grandparents if you have their names.
Hi, I am the granddaughter of m. Loretta Clelland and Norris M. Clelland. I see that you knew their parents and wondering if we are related. Please let me know thanks !!
|Sheila Robbins||RE: Flora|
Know you were busy and thought your name looked familiar, but wouldn't have mentioned if I thought you were the one who knew how to scan. I do like that picture of Mary I have. As mentioned, my ex gave me all his family pictures--gave most to my daughter, but kept the ones to put on Ancestry to share with others.
I'm in midst of final touches on an historical conference and flying across country. Understand busy!
Ancestry is good--found a cousin in Ireland, one in England and two in a family who thought they had no relatives--as we're all from men who didn't keep in touch with their father's families.
The gt, gt-grandfather had 19 children--so there are a lot of us out there. All this in last year!
Glad you're back on!
Hi, Flora was the sister of my husband's grandfather, John. Another descendant put Flora's photo on Ancestry.com. Are you a member.
If not, perhaps I can email to you.
John was at least 1/4 Choctaw--as was Flora, but he looked like he was more and she didn't look a bit. The other descendant put a photo of their mother, who applied for membership in the Choctaw nation, but was denied because a white neighbor testified that Mary (the mother) never mentioned she was part native american. I have a better photo of Mary, which I sent to the other descendant to put on Ancestry, but she never did.
I don't know how, but I have the photo and will eventually will learn how to scan photos into Ancestry.
Mary's application to Choctaw Nation is online at Ancestry.com. They let members email some stuff to non-members, but other stuff they don't. My mother-in-law asked her grandmother, Mary, what kind of Indian they were. Mary said that they were Americans. My very smart brother-in-law asked his grandfather, John, who knew they were part Choctaw.
Let me know if you know the family info and stories. SR
