RE: Old Brush Creek Cemetery
I saw the letter on eBay, glad that you got it at a good price. The knee is fine now, but a knee brace and Ibuprofen were my best friends in Oct & Nov. I have to send for a copy of Alexander's military records, seems that a copy of the Veteran's Burial Card is not enough to prove his military service. To me, it just sounds like another way for the government to make a couple of bucks. I will send you a copy of what they send me. I guess I should ask if you are in the southwestern PA area. I also need to give you the background on this project. My daughter started high school this year. One of her graduation requirements is a community service project. She asked for my assistance in picking a project that was out of the ordinary. A member of the Baltzer Meyer Historical Society gave me a newspaper article on the Old Brush Creek Cemetery. I talked it over with Lydia, and she felt it was a great project. Basically, I am now working for a 15 year old.

You can also reach me at if you don't feel like putting everything out on the public message board.

RE: Old Brush Creek Cemetery

Off to a slow start. Banged my knee up in the fall, so limping around on uneven ground didn't seem like a good idea. Plan to start work at spring thaw.

Are you a descendant of Alexander N. Rowan? Putting the paperwork together to request a Civil War era tombstone from the Dept. of Veteran Affairs.

Old Brush Creek Cemetery

Please contact me. I have a few questions for you concerning the Rowans buried at Old Brush Creek. I would also like to give you some information on planned repairs at the cemetery.
