Bio and Links
Bio Photo Born N.A.S. Quonset Point Rhode Island Oct. 18, 1961. Needless to say we moved around alot. My father (still living) was a Naval aviator, My mother Hazel "Kit" Gates Woodruff (5 May 1939 to 3 June 2007) daughter of Com. James "Jimmy" Albert Woodruff and Hazel "Brownie" Rhoads Gates.

My parents met in 1959 at the Waldorf Astoria under the clock in New York. Soon after they eloped in Pensacola Florida. My mother flew back to Denver to continue her studies along with breaking the news to her parents, my father continued flight training. Before you knew it they were living in Key West Fl. with me on the way.

My wife and I love history, I strongly believe you must know where you have been to know where you are going. So many people are destined to repeat history due to their lack of history. Over the years we have collected information about our heritage (good with the bad depending on how one looks at it) and trying to put it all together for future generations. Family history has been passed down in bits and pieces but I needed more and no-one could fill in the blanks so we started researching.

My wife, Rebecca and I reside in Florida, we love most anything outdoors from fishing, dirt biking, boating, water sports, horses, snow skiing, white water rafting etc, etc. so we have to split up history with work and fun!

RE: Photos

Good to hear from you.

Yes, I am related to the Woodruffs. Like you, Chas A. Woodruff was my great, great grandfather. My great grandmother was Edith, one of his daughters and the sister of Virginia. The photos of Charles, Virginia and James A. Woodruff, Sr. were passed down to me by Edith's daughter, my grandmother. I do have a few more family photos centering around Edith (Woodruff) Williams.

I'm just now learning about the family, and it's a pity that I wasn't aware enough of the family before my grandmother (Edith's daughter) died several years ago! In fact, my brother and I took my nephew to visit the graves in the Presidio just this July. My parents were married at a ranch north of Calistoga, which I believe was owned by James A. Woodruff, Sr. but I am not sure.

It's tremendous that you have the West Point jacket and knife! Quite an heirloom. I have a small collection of navy blazer buttons, though I don't know who they belonged to.

Thank you for maintaining the family sites!
