Bio and Links
Bio Photo I think Find-a-Grave is a good source-based genealogy site. But it is only as good as the quality of the data that is entered here. Common errors that I see are burial dates entered in place of death dates, duplications of memorials in nearby cemeteries, maiden names in place of middle names, and place of last residence being confused with place of death. These errors all take much time to research, prove, and then correct, so I strive for accuracy, rather than accumulating big numbers, on all the memorials that I work on.

I usually leave flowers, if I have had anything to do with data on any memorial. I add people to my virtual cemeteries if they are connected in my family lines. I try to make connections on my family lines as far-ranging as possible. If you see anything amiss on one of my memorials, please let me know.

RE: J and K Memorial Creators # 47317736
Steven

Please find below an email I sent to Find A Grave - AFTER I had requested a transfer from J and K four times with NO reply or explanation why they refused to transfer my baby Uncle # 71787749 (J and K's Memorial). Find A Grave refused to transfer them too.
I have created a new Memorial for him # 148331012. Sherry is going to remove the photo she took for me and add it to george's new Memorial. And she will add a new photo next week when the headstone is installed. J and K had the bear mim info, no date & place of birth no date & place of death, no family info ect.

My baby Uncle's headstone/marker is being installed on the 1st July 2015. I only found out that he didn't have a headstone after Sherry # 48127093 emailed me a photo, the end of Feb 2015.

Email to Find a Grave:
I have now emailed you 3 times in regards to this matter with no satisfaction. J and L are NOT related to my relatives at all. I understand that normally cousins and uncles are NOT transferred. I believe this is “special” circumstance. As I am related to both people. J and L have transferred my Grandmother to me. I would like all 3 relatives to be managed by me. My baby Uncle has never had a marker and I have purchase a Granite Marker for him. J and L only put very basic info about my three relatives and so I supplied the bulk of it.
Would you please transfer my Uncle # 71787749 and my Cousin # 71784747 to me to manage
# 47990106?
You will notice below copies of message sent to J and L and they have NEVER replied.
Looking forward to a positive outcome in the very near future.

RE: Corp. John McBride/Pleyto Cem.
This is all so weird to me. I read the article on FB (the Find A Grave post) and thought it was odd that there was no link to a memorial and to find there was nothing for him (did a number of searches), so I made one because I have a fondness for the veteran memorials. Now, all these messages are being left and it looks like I have a memorial for someone that's becoming famous, lol. Well, good for him, because he had a hard life and died tragically and was buried without family.

RE: Corp. John McBride/Pleyto Cem.
Hi Steve,

Your reasoning is sound and it does seem the path to a proper photo, so I did just place McBride's memorial in the Pleyto Cemetery. However, I must ask you to remove the other images you posted to the photo section of the memorial as it used up all the space and will NOT allow me to request a photo of the headstone until there is space. Please let me know when you do this.

Thanks,
Julie

Corp. John McBride/Pleyto Cem.
Hi Steven,

Thanks for the suggestion about placing the memorial in the Pleyto Cemetery. I agree that it might be the only way to get a photo request fulfilled (with careful notes about where the burial actually is), but I hesitate to do this only because, according to the recent article about the burial, he actually is not in the cemetery and originally did not get buried there, but nearby. If I remember correctly, the article mentioned some of the graves in the cemetery got moved before the reservoir was filled, but his did not, as no family could be found to contact (I don't know why that would be a deciding factor in moving a grave or not, but there it is.)

RE: James McElroy photo
You're welcome. For some reason, this cemetery does NOT have the black contrast in the engravings on any of the stones, as do most of the National Cemeteries. It makes it very hard to get enough contrast to make the photos readable. Some stones get hit by the sun just right, others are nearly always glary or shaded. sigh. But I did my best and I'm very glad you are happy.

It's such an honor to honor these vets!

RE: Wyckoff duplicates
Thanks for your efforts.

Being the manager of Pieter Wyckoff's memorial isn't overly important to me. I have precious little Wyckoff DNA.

My 5th great grandmother, Charity (Wyckoff) Wheaton, #101532119, is the last Wyckoff in my family tree. She was a great-granddaughter of Pieter and the precise connection is a bit murky in my opinion. I get confused with the many Cornelius's, Pieters, Gertjes, Jans, Johns, Jacobs and the assorted anglicized variants.

If you're a direct descendant or are motivated to manage the memorial I'm not averse to transferring whatever ends up under my management.

Wyckoff
I just deleted the Pieter Wyckoff memorial in light of the existence of the 2008 memorial. Thanks for pointing it out.

It will be a relief to avoid the bellyaching and wrath of the wearisome, self-professed Wyckoff experts.

I'd attempted to present a somewhat neutral memorial for Pieter which hopefully allowed for the various theories about his life, due to having been pressed for additional details about him by numerous F/A/G viewers.

Perhaps the contributor of the 2008 memorial is wise in submitting a blank bio for Pieter.

Mike
