Bio and Links
Bio Photo Long-time instructor of writing and women's studies at Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, OH. I am an addictive reader, am interested in geneaology, folk music and sacred harp, and am an Anglican, guitar player, singer, guardian of two rescue dogs and mother of a beautiful adult son.

I enjoy walking in cemeteries and have made it a personal project to photograph and record the headstones of military personnel in addition to requests in local cemeteries, in honor of their service and the service of my father, stepfather, and uncles in World War II and Korea, friends from Viet Nam, and students from the Gulf Wars and the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. If any of these service persons or others I have added are family members and/or you wish to manage their memorials, just let me know. I am happy to transfer.

Anyone who wants to use my photos in their family tree, on Findagrave, or any other site may do so without my permission.

I am primarily a volunteer photographer and often am unrelated to the people whose memorials I make, so I am happy to transfer. I am doing this work to honor what would otherwise be lost lives, to make visible what has been forgotten.

I would very much appreciate tributes of love to the memorial of a baby whose heartbreaking obituary I found in a newspaper from 1926:

Baby John Doe: 136921616

and to a young girl who had a hard life and a brief stay in this world: Rene Holley 145768090

Heartfelt thanks to all those who have already added notes--you mean more than I can say

RE: Rhoads photos
Hi Dr. Mahaffey, the photo request for Edwin Rhoads 1823-1915 is no longer active. I submitted an edit request to show the exact grave location at Roselawn Cemetery and that there is NO grave marker. I was able to have a nice employee of the city of Solon check the records and he gave me the info. Thanks.

No problem. It would probably be easier to transfer her to me not to bother you anymore. Just let me know. I don't know how to do that. :)
Good luck with all your efforts.
Thx Marlene

Hi Cynthia,
It's so nice to meet others that are interested in remembering those that came before us and who have been forgotten by most. The pics of the grave stones you added contributing to the Matthew Browns' was very thoughtful and I can't thank you enough for your contribution. I have been researching the family for months and even though they are no relation, became intrigued at what I found out about them. Since the beginning of this great nation the Browns and Huntingtons contributed well including during the Revolution, CW, and on into the Indian Wars and were by my definition one of the many true Americans who made this country what it is today. I feel privileged to research them on Ancestry and tell their story. Thanks for adding a memorial for Mary Ann Brown. I would like to add some information to it with your permission, and thank you again for your interest and taking time out to honor these admirable and forgotten Americans.

RE: Rhoads photos
Hi Dr. Mahaffey, you and your friend are very welcome. There was one Edwin Rhoads 1823-1915 that I did not find on my trip. I found 2 Edwin Rhoads stones which I photographed but not that particular one. I left that request open for a future try.

Hi Cynthia, I processed your edit and added Stanley Eberflus Sr to Stanley Eberflus Jr. You accidentally gave me the Jr one again to add and I looked for his father because I figured that is what you intended. Thanks for the addition. If you want the memorial because you know him I can transfer as well. Blessings, Debbie
