The St. Johns
Hi Lori,
Just found your message to Laurel about the Civil War history of LeRoy St. John and the other St. Johns. Sanford Morgan St. John is my 4x great grandfather. I come down through LeRoy's brother Lewis/Louis and his son Mark Burnham St. John line. Very interesting to learn more about LeRoy. Would love to see your pic of Sanford's grave if possible. Will think of them all this Memorial Day.

RE: Leroy St. John
Thanks for all the details, quite the CW family but with a lot of loss. Neat to find out the connection even though it's only through marriage. Can I add it to my article and do you want to be credited for it?
At least I now know why the street has its name. Just curious where the farm was exactly. If you are sick of talking to me I understand!

RE: Leroy St. John
Thank you very much. btw I have a summer cottage on St. John Dr. in Madison, any connection? Plus my great-aunt Louise (Millberg) was married to Robert St. John, any relation? She originally owned the cottage with him and they lived in Canton. The property owners on the street belong to the St. John Beach Association (we share a beach) and I believe there was a woman realtor named St. John who got that started. My parents bought the cottage from my aunt and then I inherited it. Do you live in Madison? We should get together sometime and exchange genealogy stories!
My gggrandfather on my paternal side was in the 101st Ohio Infantry and I ordered his pension files. If you want to share any other information about St. John for my article, please do.
My ggrandfather on my maternal side was also in the Civil War, he was 25 years older than my grandfather and he died before I was born.
Well, I'll shut up now!

Leroy St. John
I would like permission to use the photo for an article I'm writing for Ohio genealogy journal about the Madison Civil War monument and soldiers. Many thanks.
