 | RE: Greisen-Mux-Gruenther Hi Bernard,
One more thing. The 1880 U.S. Census says that Henry's first 3 children were born in WI and that the youngest, Catherine, was born in NE.

 | Henry Gruenther Hi Again,
I forgot to give you the birth dates that are listed for Henry's family in the old church book for St. Bernard, NE. They are:
Henry Gruenther b. 28 Oct 1836, Agnes (nee Greisen) b. 6 Jan 1840, Theresia b. 25 Nov 1868, Christian b. Nov 1871, Peter b. 8 Dec 1873, Catharina b. 6 Jan 1875.
I wonder why Henry would be buried in Oregon. It is such a long way from Nebraska.

 | RE: Greisen-Mux-Gruenther Dear Bernard - Is it Christian you are looking for? If so, I do not have any records for Omaha, NE. I can only help you with records for St. Bernard, NE. That is where my mother's family came from. I have copies of some of the old church records. The early settlers in St. Bernard were German Catholic immigrants.
Henry and Agnes (maiden Greisen) Gruenther and 4 children (Theresia, Christian, Peter and Catharina) are in the list of first families of St. Bernard. My ancestors were too. The parish was formed in 1877 and the first baptisms were recorded in 1879. I found a record of the death of Agnes Gruenther born 6 Jan 1840 & died 10 Mar 1880 in the death records on page 13.
I looked at census records. In 1880, Henry worked as a shoemaker. One of my ancestors from Germany was a shoemaker too. Christian Gruenther and his wife Mamie married in 1898. They had a large family of at least 6 children (Alfred, Homer, Luster, Leona, Lewis or Louis and Verona). In 1900 and 1910, they lived in Lost Creek, Platte, NE and in 1920, they lived in Douglas Co., NE (county where Omaha is located).
I hope this helps you. I see that you are in Cologne. My Henry Adams (1818-1892) ancestor and his father (John Adams) came from Enzen, Zuelpich near Cologne.
