After about ten years of doing family history research, I have accumulated a vast amount of information. Please feel free to use any of it from the web site linked to my account.|
"Bigger" is not always "better." Having a large number of memorials with nothing about the people who died on them creates a nice placeholder, but is not necessarily very useful in the historical sphere of things. Likely (sooner rather than later) a large management task may ensue, with hundreds or more of people you know nothing about sending messages filling up your message box to the point where you are unable to keep up and frustrated at trying to do so.
Hard feelings that happen too frequently here can probably often be traced back in part to the unintended consequences of trying to manage too many people to get "big" numbers, although it is a constant of human nature that if you put a lot of (living) people together, controversy or dissent will ensue to some extent.
My own web site grew larger than I ever intended and I understand the result first hand, though I really do try to verify information and minimize controversy. But there still are times I get more email about it than I'd like.
Philosophically, I am trying to put up or manage memorials of people I have done research on, and only on occasion will add information for someone whom I really don't know much about, if it fills in gaps in an entire family, etc. Think before you plunge.

No problem at all. I have done the same thing :)

Hello Mr. Brumm,
I agree with you about quality over quantity and the management problem posed by "name collectors" on Find A Grave. However, I do see the value of posting folks' burial locations as a public service. I was delighted just now to find the photo and obit you posted for Mary Brumm. My great uncle was her second husband, Frank Rogers. I have linked them just now. It's great to have more than just a name in my file. Thank you very much for sharing! - Jim

I added the obit you sent me and gave you credit for the submission (hope you don't mind). I appreciate that you took the time to do that. He accomplished quite a bit in such a short time.
