I got interested in genealogy and FAG by watching my sister get very involved. I have finally decided to follow in her footsteps, though I doubt I will ever match her passion for the quest.|
I regret not getting involved in FAG while in Alaska, as I could have done a lot of volunteer photography there.
I recently returned to my home state of Montana where I plan to make up for those lost opportunities. I plan to travel some, getting reacquainted with the state. I will always look for FAG photo requests in the areas where I'm heading.
My sister has tossed a gauntlet: Document Pioneer Cemetery in Jordan, Montana. This is where my mother, father, and grandmother rest, so this is a worthy cause.

|Pamela Thompson||Gravestone Photo Permission|
I am happy to see that you photographed the gravestone of Anna Lynette Alford in Grantsdale Cemetery (Memorial# 113479180).
I would like to add this gravestone photo to the (non-profit) Alford American Family Association's collection of Montana Obituaries, where her obituary is (or will be) included. You can see the current collection at http://www.alfordassociation.org/OBITS/MTOBIT.htm.
May I have your permission to include your gravestone photos? If so, the photo caption will say:
Photo from [cemetery name, city, county, state]—www.findagrave.com
Permission granted by the photographer, Penny Jo [or your full name if you prefer]
And thanks so much for your gravestone photo work!

Thank you! She is distantly related, so a transfer is not necessary. Good luck with your new location! Bob

This message isn't about any specific memorials or anything like that. I just wanted to commend you on the photo you added for this cemetery on Find A Grave. The image of the headstones with the prairie and mountains in the background is stunning and just so indicative of Great Falls, MT cemeteries for me. Just a beautiful photo. Thank you for adding it. :) Me'thinks I might need to re-visit this cemetery again.
|Frank Gerlach||Purple Hearts in Montana|
to Penny Joe,
My dad was the recipient of a Purple Heart, perhaps two as he was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge in Germany during WWII. I think he was wounded twice but he died when I was young and my Mother couldn't remember for sure how many Purple Hearts he received. He is buried in the Bench Cemetery located on the Gerlach Ranch about 4 miles from Stockett Montana. If your interested in seeing this grave yard,I pretty sure that somebody from Stockett(about 20 SW of Great Falls) can direct you to it. Ask for Ron or Brian Guisti at the American Bar.
Sincerely, Frank Gerlach
