Thanks for prompt edits. Your work is very much appreciated. Please do not transfer as this family is distant. Thanks again, gail

I have deleted this name from the Spell Cemetery. I edited the description and listed John C Spell Family Cemetery as another place to look for family members.

Do you know if there is a deed concerning this cemetery - John C Spell and just Spell Cemetery?

Also do you happen to know when this cemetery was started.

I plan on doing some research on the "Spell" cemetery in the next few weeks.

RE: Charles McDuffie Martin

Nice to hear from you. I have never seen his name in records other than McDuffie Martin. If I recall, there was a Charles Martin in a later generation. I have always seen him as McDuffie Martin.

Do you mind telling me who has questioned this?

Kind regards,

RE: Joseph Roy Hightower Sunset Hill
Ed, as I stated earlier, I did NOT pursue my line in earnest before George Henry Hightower. I had taken my Mother's records and used them as the Gospel. When I started genealogy, there was no internet, no The only places to get records were the public libraries IF they had microfiche of census records. That was also before I learned the importance of recording sources. I do recall visiting a library (I believe it was Thomasville, GA) and found a lot of info on the Hightower lineage including a chart made by Walter A. Walker on blueprint paper. Of course, I copied it all down and began to pick it apart trying to prove his records right or wrong. But back then, there were so many brick walls, so the older records got put on the back burner.

We all have our good/bad stories about our searches, and quite possibly the funniest I've run into was after contacting a lady who had some missing family members. She filled in my missing blanks, and some of the stuff she was giving me didn't seen to add up. Without calling her out on it, I requested her sources so that I could list them (then do my own double-checking. She became angry and stated, "Don't you DARE question my sources. I'll have you know I have my family completed all the way back to Adam and Eve."

I suppose you can understand how that statement compounded my skepticism.

I sent you my email address in my last reply; don't know how you would rather share info, but again, mine may not be as accurate as yours. I can send you hand typed or attachments of what I have starting with Joshua Hightower b. abt. 1660 in Va - d. July 1726 in VA, Richmond County, (h/o Eleanor Charnold, b. abt. 1675 - d. aft. 1726 in VA, Amelia County.

Since I log everything "Hightower" when I run across it, I may have people from your line. Let me know and I'll share what I have.

RE: Joseph Roy Hightower Sunset Hill
Ed, Sorry to have taken so long with a response. Within seconds of posting my question, I saw the notation about no gravemarker. I too, have been doing Hightower searches for over 40 years. My line comes from George Hightower Abt. 1785, Ga. - Aft. 1860, Ga.). My active research stops with his son, because about 30 years ago, available info at that time was "said to be". His son, Davis (and his son George Henry) are the only ones I document because of hard records. George Henry's son, James Walter, Sr. is my grandfather. Jim Hightower

RE: Mildred Baldus Newberry
I am related to the Malter family which is Mildred's Family. Mildred's great grandmother (Mary Catherine, nee Pausch, Malter) was my 2x great grandmother's (Katherine Elisabeth, nee Pausch, Bayer) niece.

I would be happy to take over maintenance of any member of my direct and allied families.

Thank you. I was friends with her late husband James Durst. He passed away before he could update it anymore.
