|clevelandpole||RE: Farnham Family Graves|
You are very welcome. There are some interesting things about this plot. Bradley's stone is not the gov provided civil war headstone--it must have been purchased by the family after(?) his death. It is possible it was a "pre-need" purchase that the stone cutter never came back to finish, but people were so much more superstitious at the time, I doubt it. Why is the date of death not on the stone? If the birthdate is wrong, then either the stonecutter made a mistake, or the person ordering it didn't actually remember. We may never know!
If you look at the plot picture under Eliza, Bradley is on the right (south), there is a large empty space, then the obelisk, and lastly, there is a small headstone "gravemarker" that says "Isaac" on the left (north). I have placed the Isaac stone under Isaac Jr., per Nancy's information as to the dual spelling of the names. (it is my opinion that it is actually for Isaac Sr.) The fieldstone is on the right (south) side of the obelisk, equidistant as the Isaac stone. That's why I placed it under Eliza. The family obelisk/individual gravemarker arrangement, father on one side, mother and children on the other is very common for this area. Where are the other gravemarkers? My best guess is that this job never got completed! (no money, fight with the mason?) Maybe why Mary is not buried with her husband. Sorry for wordiness--this type of little mystery tends to emphasize the human element of this website.

You're welcome, Bill. Sorry the Janet Farnham photo is not that good. I only had my hands to clean the stone and it was buried a couple of inches deep.
|Steve Bissen||Change to Janet Farnham birth year|
Could you please change Janet Farnham in Cortland Rural Cemetery (Memorial#: 106665239) birth year from unknown to 1934. Thanks.

All Evergreen cemetery has been photgraphed so it's easy. In same plot (7-1-14) is Lulu Mann, George Rice and Luanna Russell. Luanna's stone only says Mother.
OK. I went back to the cemetery. Took a photo of John Russell stone & posted it. Died 22 march 1851. Hope he is the one you were looking for. I saw Sarah, wife of John, once again. She died 5 June 1852. Not sure where to post that photo. I removed the photo I had posted before.
Saw several other Russells: Mariett, daughter of John & sarah; Desire L Russell; William Russell d 1812. Are you interested in any of these?

When the rain lets us here I will go back and see if I can see a date on the stone. We can go from there...

I added the photo but no other information. I could not see a date on the marker. It had begun to rain so stones were wet and hard to read. Is this the Sarah you were looking for?
