Bio and Links
Born and raised in Selmer, McNairy County, Tennessee. Graduated from the University of Tennessee-Martin in 1981 with a B.S. in Business. Researching Curtis, Chambers, Cooke, Hargett, Harrell, McDearman, Pipkin in West TN and Reedy, Scribner/(Scrivner), Payne, Pierce, Moore in North Mississippi.

My interest in genealogy started as a child with a small handmade book of the Curtis side of the family dating to 1813 that my grandfather had, he left it to my father and I became hooked. While most of my memorials are of my family, any outside of that I will be glad to transfer. It is my firm viewpoint is family should be with family.

I'm in the healthcare field as a nursing home administrator for 33 years; currently in central Florida. Married for 29 years with two daughters and a granddaughter.

RE: Corlia L. Reedy

You're very welcome. I am glad to be of help.

I wish the headstone was a little clearer, but alas it was not. Some of these headstones are not engraved as well as I would like.

Gary E Gray
Reedy Name
Hello Allen,

My name is Gary E. Gray, I was born and raised in Northwest Louisiana and descend from Leuticia Jane Reedy McGee who married Marion Newton McGee. I have limited information on the Reedy side of my family tree and was wondering if you could illuminate missing pieces of information there.

Leuticia's parents were William A. Reedy and Jincy A. Mitchell Reedy.

What information, if any, do you have on the Reedy side and just curious, do you and I share a common ancestor through the Reedy's? If so, I wonder which?

My parents are Ronald Eugene Gray and Melba Dean Tubbs. The Reedy connection comes in through my mother, Leuticia Jane Reedy is my mother's Great Grandmother.

You can email me at - that is the best way to reach me.

I look forward to hearing from you and thank you!

Kind Regards,

Gary E. Gray
Spring, Texas

What is the memorial you think is the correct one? I need a memorial number. Also, where is Huber Springs?

Sorry I'm so late with this reply. For some reason, I didn't receive an email in my inbox saying that you had contacted me. Yes, please free to use any of the photos for your family tree.

RE: Paynes at New Chapel Cemetery
Hello there! I recently married into the Payne family. Fred and Jimmie Lou are my wife's great-grandparents. Leota is buried in the same plot right next to Jimmie Lou, and recent obits of family members (children of Fred and Jimmie Lou) have her listed as a sister. My wife and I traveled by New Chapel last week, on our way to the visitation for Fred and Jimmie Lou's daughter-in-law Ludie, and we stopped to find the graves and snap a few photos (we live in Fulton). You are more than welcome to use the photos.
