Bio and Links
Bio Photo I love to do genealogical research & photography, so becoming a volunteer photographer here was a natural choice. My own family names include Urquhart, Howland/Tilley, Alden/Mullens, Post, Collins, Whitney, etc.

**For those with Island ancestors or relatives, I recommend: as well as the "Martha's Vineyard Antique Photos" Facebook page, and the M.V. Museum and the M.V. Historical Society** Another one is the "Martha's Vineyard Antique Photos" page on Facebook which posts wonderful photos!

If I create a memorial for your ancestor and you'd like it transferred to you, (and it isn't one of my ancestors) I am generally happy to oblige. However, if I email you extra photos and you upload them to new or existing memorials, please note that I'm the photographer.

I am so grateful to others who have created memorials for my family, taken photos, etc.

P.S. I recommend this online date calculator tool:
If you have the date of death and the yr./mo./days of age, you can easily calculate the birth date.

RE: Oscar Harvey- your requested edit
Just guessing, based on info provided on his memorial. I figure a near miss is better than nothing at all. Mostly for searching purposes, and helps not having to open the memorial when there are a lot of results.

RE: Wife of Ebenezer Norton
Hi Sunset! I hope you're doing ok. :) Let's put this 'Elizabeth' suggestion the back burner for now, can we?

I've got some other research I kinda need to squeeze in before i can get back to this. I surely want to see what prompted me to suggest this, tho. :)

I would say . . . maybe by the end of summer? I should be able to put 2plus2 together for this. I humbly apologize for not having this on my fingertips for analysis when i made my suggestion.

I believe I was relying on the fact that this was all in the Old Burying Grnd (GR I) per pg 52 . . . but I didn't catch the Eb "Junior' part.

Thanks for the followup; Let's chit-chat later re this. :):)

RE: Wife of Ebenezer Norton
Hi Sunset!!

Letsee . . . this'll take a cpl days. :) Note that the pg 52 ref is for an Eb. JUNior; according to findagrave, the gravestone is marked Eb "Esq" . . . which (if I'm not mistaken) is his pop. :)

But I'll have to spread my stuff out, & check my notes. :) I think it was in Banks Hx MV - vol 3 that I discovered all this.

The dates are the key as you suggest. :)

RE: Wife of Ebenezer Norton
Hi Sunset!!

I hope you're doing ok. :) mmm . . . what caught my eye is that this grave site is right next to Ebenezer . . . who was married to an Elizabeth, who had a family; which included a male child named Elijah whom i was researching.

I have to check my notes for dates & stuff. . .but on pg 52 of VR of Edagartown(NEHGS 1906) you'll see a reference to these folks.

The "GRI" notation there refers to: "gravestone record, Old Burying Ground".

Sooooooo . . . I'm assuming this is most probably Ebenzer's wife, Elizabeth. :)

Hunt Family
Hi name is Brian Hunt. I saw you posted Ephraim is your 10th great grandfather, he is my 9th. How are you related? His son Ephraim Jr is my 8th great grandfather. I know Ephraim Sr was married twice. Had 6 kids with the two diff wifes. He worked as a shipwrecker. He came to the new world in 1639 with his dad Enoch Hunt Jr. His dad went back to England for some reason. I havent found out why yet.I have info on Ephraim Sr's dad and grandfather which is the farthest I go back in the family.

I can't even remember the correction to be honest, but I regularly cruise through Find A Grave and make corrections and connections when I can find them. (Like I have nothing else to do with my time!)

RE: Dr. John F. Hay
Many thanks. I am delighted to hear that John F. Hay's portrait has been resurrected (it is Easter after all!). That would be great to see when it is completed. I also have Hay's on my Mother's side. Would love to see if I can connect them! Could well be we are related. Both the Nichols and the Kimball's go back to the early 1600's in Massachusetts.
Many thanks, again.
