Good morning Kathy,

I received your suggested edits (year of birth, birth place, date of death) for the memorial above. Would you please provide the source(s) of your information?

Thank you for keeping Find A Grave an accurate and valuable genealogical tool!

Madame Hill:
Thank you much for posting his widow's CSA Widow application; interesting and informative..!
This explains where he lost his life.
Since there is no record of his burial in the Spotsylvania Court House Confederate Cemetery, it certainly seems that his mortal shell is still within the battlefield. This is the case for a few thousand souls.
Would you please, then, change his burial to "Spotsylvania Court House Battlefield"?
Last year I set up such a "cemetery" for those who are not known to have been reinterred elsewhere.
Thank you--
Respectfully,
Dan

Hello:
I'm writing about the posting you made of this man.
You've not listed what unit or country he served, but based on my research and the State he was born in, he was a Private in Company I, 14th Alabama.

You list him as dying May 12, 1864. I'm guessing this means he was KIA that day or being mortally wounded a few days earlier and dying then.

As historian of the Spotsylvania Court House Cemetery's C.S.A burials, I'm intrigued by your listing. There is no record of he being buried in this cemetery. It could very well be that he is still in the Spotsylvania Court House Battlefield.

Perry's C.S.A. records list him as having been wounded & captured May 3 in the Battle of Salem Church (next to Chancellorsville and close to where I live); he was paroled and exchanged not long afterwards.
In Dec 1863, he was courts-martialed and sentenced.

Would you be so kind as to share your source(s) that helped determine he is buried here? I'd be very interested and hope to learn about more sources.

THANK YOU in advance for your time and effort--
Dan

Traxler family
Kathy-
Well .. you found it. John Addison Traxler was my 1st Cousin 2x Removed. I had his wife as Emma .. so straight off .. I'm in your debt for that addional info.

You are correct about Geore W. and Henretta Traxler. They were George Washington David Traxler + Henritta Burgess.

His brother was Henry Hume Allen Traxler married to Ida Belle Patrick. On the side .. when my sister had her first child she stayed with Henry - he was living in Little Rock at the time.

There was a brother Joseph Timothy Traxler so your Timothy may be him.

My email is etraxx (at) gmail.com
