RE: Ben Hosey
Thank you for your response. I was hoping for more information on the Reed family. My grandmother, a half-sister of Renny Reed Hosea, lived with us in the 1940's until she died. She corresponded with Renny and the wife of Isaac Reed, her youngest half-brother.
My husband and I visited with Reed family members in that area twice; the first time with a son and a daughter of Isaac Reed in about 1990.

Ben Hosea #85713136
I found your memorial for Ben Hosea very interesting and with helpful information for my family tree as his second wife, Rentha "Renny" Reed, was an aunt of my dad. I would like to correspond with you concerning the family.

Zebe Locke
Zebe was in Lawsonville, Rusk, Texas with his parents in the 1900 Census. Family thinks he went back to Ms. Do you have any info on him?

RE: Ora Mae Irvin Cooper
Thanks for your reply. I have a some information about John Irvin although I am still trying to solve the identity of his parents. I was told that he did not participate on either side during the War Between the States and that he ran a general store in the Turkey Creek area. He was also a postmaster for a brief period of time. John Irvin is my 2nd great grandfather and Alfred is my great grandfather. Ora, my grandmother, was known by "Sissy" for years. I was told that she did not have a real given name until she was about 18 and then she picked the name Ora on her own. I would be interested in any family stories about Bill Irvin and his family if you have any to share. He would be my Great grand uncle. I have the basic information from census records, but not much more.

Family Connections
I just revisited my Great Grandfather's Find A Grave site and I noticed your memorial at the bottom of the page. I would like to correspond with you about the Irvins and other connections we might have. My Grandmother was Ora Mae Irvin that married Robert Russell Cooper.

Hope to hear you,

Benny Cooper

RE: GW picture
I can't figure out how to load a picture in this message forum. If you'd send me your e-mail I will send the photo that way. I'd really like to know if you think it is GW 'Bud' Hosey with his wife.

Also, I have a running list of info bites on Hoseys I received from a distant cousin named Long. It is several pages long. I can load that here if you wish or send via e-mail.

I recently found a marriage licence of my great grandparents and they are listed as Hosey vice Hosea. I know for a fact that my grandmother is Hosea.

RE: GW picture
GW Hosey and Francis Godwin are my 2g-grandparents on my mother's side. Their youngest son is Luther Irvin Hosea and his wife Georgia Anne Milam, my great-grandparents. My grandmother is Sophia Anne Hosea Payne Parker.

I thought GW spelled his name Hosea until I found his grave in "findagrave' about two weeks ago.

As for family name, I heard that a 'Hosey' had a problem with his father and decided to spell his name 'Hosea' and subsequently moved to Texas. His father sent a letter to him and addressed it to 'Hosey'. The son sent it back and wrote 'there is no one by that name living here'.

That's an interesting story but probably not true. I suspect consistent spelling had more to do with it.

I will send you the photo that may or may not be GW & Bersheba

George Washington Hosey Transferred
Hi! I have transferred Mr. Hosey's memorial over to you as requested. I did the research on him as my husband is a descendant of Michael & Mary (Vickers) Berry, Mr. Hosey's first wife. The Hosey's also tied into his Dalton line. Happy Hunting!

RE: photo
Thanks for the info. I only had my aunts information and I've never heard of anyone else having that photo.....other than her and the copy my sister has.

Do you have one of GW Hosey and his first wife Bersheba? I have a photo but I'm not sure if it's of the two. The male looks younger and similar to the one with Francis. The woman is older than Francis.

One might conclude the photo is of GW Hosey and Bersheba but then I'm not the expert. I don't have any information to help me with that conclusion.
