RE: Benjamin Major 1815-1870
The Benjamin Major in my tree was married to Elizabeth Brannan and they also lived in Mifflin Co. They had several children and one was named Amelia (this name shows up repeatedly in related families) who married John Evans.

Unfortunately the Major family bible that Ann Major Slaysman had, was passed down through her daughter to her grandson, George Campbell, and was lost in a house fire. My grandmother's notes (from 1940s) show there was another bible that was in the possession of Miss Moore (or Moon) at 130 North Brown St, Lewistown.

There was a Wm Creath who received 400 acres in 1794 in Mifflin Co. (Rev. War Land Warrant). If he moved there, that would place Creaths in the same area as the Majors which could very well tie the two Benjamins together.

You might check with the Mifflin County Historical Society in Lewistown. They were very helpful when I had requested information back in 2001.

Good luck,
Penny
