Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am originally from Hartsville, Darlington, Florence area of South Carolina. I am related to the Watkins, Williams, Browns, Kelleys , Kellys, McDonalds, and many many more. This is a great site for building family history to pass on to our children and grand children. God Bless and have a glorious day!

Revelation 21:4
King James Version (KJV)

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

P.S. Please take a moment to visit the memorial for Morgan Thompson . We went to High School together. Morgan had been living in the Boy's Home for a number of years. He haid been talking for a couple of years about joining the Army as soon as he was old enough so he could get out of the Boy's Home. He joined the Army and came by school to show us his uniform. He had a smile from ear to ear! I will never forget how proud he looked in his dress uniform. He had just completed basic training and was on his way to Vietnam. A few short months later we got word that Morgan had been killed in combat. God bless you Morgan. You made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Freedom is not free. Through the sacrifices of many thousands of men and women like Morgan we have freedom. He was only 18! Cherish this freedom and never let it be taken away.

Thank you for adding this memorial. Gladys was the sister of my great grandfather Jack Fielder Badon. I have added a picture of her and her sister Earline from 1939 New Orleans.

Hello Johnny,

I read the Memorial for your friend, Morgan Thompson and noticed he went to Parker. I graduated with the Class of 1961 and we had our 50 year reunion in 2011, and some of us have a monthly lunch meeting.

One of my siblings may have been at Parker in '68, but I'm not sure.

It would be wonderful if I could do what you do in the local cemeteries. I live downtown near the Old City Cemetery but I'm afraid to go there alone.

Thank care,
Claudia

RE: Mary Elizabeth Allen
Thanks for your message Johnny,
My g'g' mother was born Elizabeth Emily Williams, 1857, in Greenville, AL. She married Mr. Allen in Jacksonville in 1884, and was called Lizzie. He adopted her 3 boys and they later had 4 more children. I find her called Mary E. Allen for the first time in the 1940 Federal Census. Since she was a practicing Episcopalian, perhaps she took Mary as her baptismal name when she was baptised later in life.
For practical reasons that you mentioned, the grave marker should remain Mary Elizabeth Allen for research purposes. Most called her Lizzie but I called her Grandma. Perhaps I should try to get church records from the Church of the Good Shepherd.
BTW, her 6th child, Mabel Emily was my mother's mother.

Photos of other family members at Evergreen...
Johnny - I have other family members at Evergreen that are not listed on Find A Grave. Are you in that area that you could look for more of my family members? I live in Pennsylvania so the thousand mile trip is not on my agenda. Let me know if this is possible. They should all be in the same area of the cemetery. TY

RE: Jewel Tison Cain Edwards
I will keep my eyes open for Alice Edwards. Jewel Cain was my mother's sister. James Martin Edwards was her second husband. I don't have the need to trace his family other than his siblings and parents. Since they were originally from Georgia it is possible that some of his Edwards family members also moved to the Jacksonville area...Thank you.

RE: Jewel Tison Cain Edwards
The is an aunt named Alice Edwards b. 1906 in Georgia. I am not sure if this is her grave or not. I will keep me eyes open for her. Our Alice is the daughter of James Perry Monroe Edwards. She would be a sister to Martin Francis Edwards of Georgia. TY

Thank you for the photos of my aunt's grave in Evergreen Cemetery, Jacksonville, Florida. Because of her untimely death she was buried alone - not with her family in Pearson, Appling Co, Georgia...Jean in Pa.
