|Mary Joan||Mayflower Priests|
George, I have Priests in my line of ancestors and have researched the "Mayflower" Priest. My research shows that no one with the Priest surname today could be a direct line descendent of DeGregory Priest who sailed here on the Mayflower!
Degory Priest had 1 son and 2 daughters. The daughters married and had children, but the son died as a young adult and never married.
That said, "our" Priest ancestors could have lived in England and could have been related to Degory, but they would not have been passengers on the Mayflower.
If you GOOGLE "Mayflower descendants" a website will come up -- I think it may be called "The Mayflower Society" The site will have three generations of descendants outlined for each passenger. Degory Priest descendants are included on the site. You will see that none carry the Priest surname.
Hope this answers your question, found on a Find A Grave member contributor page?
i.e. no one can say they are descended from a Mayflower Priest, just because they have the Priest surname. :-(
