RE: John Ash
Brenda, Maybe there is a different Orresta Ash out there (though it is an unusual name) but I believe that Oresta William Ash (born 18 May 1874 in Hardin County, Ohio -- died 9 Dec 1958 in Hardin County, Ohio) is the son of William Ash (1845-1921) and Margaret Jane Simpson Ash (1843-1915). Oresta apparently never married, and all three are buried in Kenton, Ohio. If you do a google search for "William Oresta Ash" you'll find the website of a person that has quite a bit of information about the family.

RE: John Ash
Christine, Sorry for the delayed response but I'm generally only active on Find-A-Grave during the month or two following my annual cemetery tour in the summer. My family was also under the impression that we were of English "Ash" descent until I started researching the family tree. It was something of a surprise when I discovered that, when the family arrived in America they from Germany, and the last name was actually "Esch." (But, I see that other folks have already advised you of that element of your ancestry.) The father of John Ash was Robert Ash (1787-1864), His father was William Ash (1762-1851), and his father was Johann Wilhelm Esch (1732-1796). Johann arrived in America from Germany in 1753. Anyway, Best regards from your 5th cousin twice removed (or thereabouts), Charlie.

RE: Ash Family
They were born in New York. Try searching for Henry Ash family on Yahoo. You will find a site done by Mary Ash. You are correct, the name was Esch. Do the names Robert, Douglas and Doris Ash ring a bell? Who exactly is your father? Thanks, Gary
