I have been interested in genealogy for over 30 years. I also enjoy locating old cemeteries and documenting burials before time and the elements prevent doing so. All of my family lines go back many generations in America with my main interests being in Kentucky, Virginia, Missouri, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, the Carolinas and New England. My family and I have researched family lines on Steele, Ramsey, Taylor, Grandstaff/Grindstaff, Baker, Bowie/Buoy, High, Collier, McKenney, Prewitt, Peters, Whitehurst, Amis, Wood, Forsythe, Whitaker, Shisler, Dailey, Yardley, Irwin and Needham just to name a portion of our family tree. I am more than happy to share information, find cemeteries or assist in any way I can.|

|Minister Derek Boyd West||A couple of last questions?|
I was curious if you would happen to know if the one sibling of Great Grandpa George Steele was a sister, and if she is the one who was married to an Ernest Sparks, and if she is the missing one, i was wondering if you had her first name, and if she is anywhere on this site. I was wondering about it, because Great Grandma Phema was married to a Sparks for a short time before great Grandpa George, and had a son named Joe Sparks by the Sparks man. I do not know his first name either. If you would happen to know Joe Sparks blood dad's name, let me know, and if he has a memorial. I have been trying to pull together all of Uncle Joe's stuff on here. I got Great Grandma linked as his mother, but i do not know his dads name, and if he was on here, i wanted to link them, so i could see the mans descendants who would be my relatives. Also i have one last question, that you may or may not have the answer to. My Great Uncle Joe Sparks was married to a first wife, who's name i do not know, and i wondered if you knew her name, i think my mom told me she thought her name was Creta, or something different like that, but i am not sure. They divorced, and then later he married My Great Aunt Ruth (Pursiful) Sparks/Murray, and what i am trying to find out is Aunt Ruth was 19 and she had a daughter and at this time Joe Sparks would have been 43, because he was 24 years older than her, and Ruth had a daughter named Tina, and she died in a car accident. Anyways, it states that Tina's maiden name was Pursiful, instead of Sparks, so i have been trying to figure out if Great Aunt Ruth had Tina by another man or if she belonged to Uncle Joe, and that they just weren't married yet, and so that is why Tina was born with Aunt Ruth's maiden name instead of Uncle Joe's last name. If you have any answers to any of these questions, please let me know, as i am trying to link Tina and Joe, and find Joe's Sparks family, and link him to his dad. Thanks.
|Minister Derek Boyd West||Amy Parsons|
I had always been told that Amy Parsons was My Great Grandma Phema (Parsons) Steele's sister, which is correct based on what you shared with me, but i was told that she was the mother of a Todd North, who somehow is a cousin to my Mom's Sister Carol (Pence) Abercrombie's husband Eugene Abercrombie. I now know that this Amy Parsons wh was married to Arlis North was not the same Amy Parsons who was my Great Grandma Phema (Parsons) Steele's sister, and so i was wondering, would you happen to know who this other Amy Parsons is, who is somehow related to my Great Grandmother, but is not her sister? I don't know if you know the answer to that or not. All i know is her name would have been Amy (Parsons) North. Thanks if you know who she is and can explain it to me.
|Minister Derek Boyd West||I just reread your response and got some answers to my questions. Sorry.|
So then is Irvin's Dad Andrew the one who was also a Minister? Great Grandpa George's Uncle Andrew? And sure, when you have time, you can send me that obituary if you would like to.
|Minister Derek Boyd West||Irvin's Church photo's|
I was on the Church's website a few years back, when their elderly former Pastor was there, and they had old photo's of Rev. Irvin and his wife, and many others from the founding of the Church, but that Pastor passed away, and they have a new one, and he redid the website, and all of those photos are gone, so so much for that idea. I know one other place that i may find him though, that i will check out.
|Minister Derek Boyd West||Thank you|
Thank you for sending me a link to the Rev. Irvin Steele's memorial. I had been looking for him, and had not been able to find him, but i about knew he had to be on here somewhere. I am just curious, you said that my Great Grandpa George Steele and Irvin Steele were 1st cousins, so that would mean that they had common Steele Grandparents if i am correct. So their Grandma and Grandpa, i can't remember their names of the top of my head, but they must have been my Great Great Great Grandma and Grandpa Steele, and if i remember correctly that would be Joel Wesley i think was my Great Great Grandpa Steele's name, it would be his mom and dad that was Cousin Irvin and Great Grandpa George Steele's Grandma and Grandpa that they shared that was common, and so if i am calculating correctly, that would make Irvin my 4th Maternal cousin, him being my mom Marcia's, mom Mary's, Dad George's 1st cousin. I believe that would make him a 4th Maternal cousin, if i understand how that works correctly. I just opened his memorial, and i was wondering though, if one of Great Grandpa George Steele's Uncles was Rev. Irvin's dad, which one was he? I just think that it is neat how many Steele's there are back the line who were Ministers, and interesting how they almost all belonged to different denominations. I believe that what you stated in that photograph containing my Great Great Uncle Rev. Lawrence Steele in front of a Church in the 1940's, i believe that my Grandma Mary told me that Great Great Uncle Lawrence would preach revivals anywhere that the Lord opened up the door for him to preach, but i believe she told me that he was ordained by the Pilgrim Holiness Denomination. I am not positive about what the Pilgrim Holiness people believed like, but to my knowledge on Mainline Protestant Denominationalism, the Pilgrim Holiness Denomination, i believe is no longer formally in existance. I believe there are still some people who go affiliate their beliefs with the Pilgrim Holiness Denomination, but i believe that most Pilgrim Holiness Churches today have over time transitioned into part of the Wesleyan Denomination, and the Wesleyan Denomination is still in existance, but it is a dwindling Denomination in popularity. Most Churches that were once Pilgrim Holiness transitioned to Wesleyan, and most Wesleyan Churches transitioned to part of the Nazarene Denomination, but i have preached in a Wesleyan Church that was still part of the organization of the Denomination, and they are doctrinally very similar to that of the Nazarenes. But i always thought it was interesting, because i do not know for certain what kind of preacher that my Great Grandpa George Steele's Uncle Andrew Steele was, but there was a Rev. Andrew Steele that was the founding Pastor of the Laurel Church of the Nazarene back in 1937, and i believe that was my Great Great Great Uncle Andrew Steele who started that Church back then, and he may have been the Pastor there back in 1939 when Great Grandpa George got saved there, but i am not sure. They were Nazarene's, Irvin was Pentecostal Holiness, i know that Doris says she was raised Baptist, and then Great Great Uncle Lawrence was Pilgrim Holiness. I always wondered how that happened. But i wanted to ask, besides who Irvin's Mom and Dad was, did he have any brothers and sisters? And would you happen to know what his wife's maiden name was? Or have any photo's of them in your collection that you could email me. I hate to keep you busy with this, but it interests me, and anything you have that pertains to the Steeles that is not on this site that you would be willing to share, i would love to see. I was telling Doris about you, and i told her that her Uncle Andy was your Grandpa, and she remembered him well and your dad Paul, but she did not remember you. That is like here at Fountain Place where i live, i started a Ministry called the Bible Way Word of Life Fellowship of Believers of Fountain Place Apartments, and i know you probably don't know and most likely have never met my cousin Edwin, but he is the Son of my Great Uncle Charles Monroe Steele who went by the nickname of Roe. Edwin is his son. You may have met him as a kid though, because when he was a boy, back on Steele Lane off of Sanes Creek, back where Great Grandma and Great Grandpa George and Phema Steele's house was, there was a place just across the lane from their house, and that is where my cousin Edwin grew up at, and he was mostly raised by Great Grandma and Great Grandpa, because Great Uncle Charles Monroe, or Uncle Roe as i know him, was a bad alcoholic. Anyway, if i remember right, you and my cousin Edwin are near the same age. Edwin is 52, and will be 53 on July 11th of this year. But anyways, him and his wife Tina, and his son Cody and his girlfriend Kyleah, and Edwin's two youngest daughters and his Daughter Charle and her sons Briar and Gradyn all come to the Apartments and we have Church together. We wanted it to be at the Nazarene Church at Laurel, that has since Great Grandma and Great Grandpa's days been closed down by the organization of the Nazarene Denomination, and bought by a former Pastor, and is now a Free Nazarene Church, i was assistant Pastor there for 6 years, but there were some differences, so all of us Steele's are meeting up here now, and it's a shame, because they wanted to carry on the Steele Tradition at the Nazarene Church, but it didn't work out, but i still know that what we are doing is making them proud, and that is the important thing. It's nice to worship with a bunch of Steele's, and know it's a dream that had been in the making a long time. Anyway, i was going to tell you that i can also get you some photos of Irvin and his wife, and put some on here most likely, because the last i checked, 10th Street Full Gospel Holiness Church website has some photo's of them on there, and i will try to get and download and save them and upload and put them on here if i can find them.
|Minister Derek Boyd West||Great Great Uncle Lawrence Steele|
I did not know if you knew, but i was just looking through here, and i found Great Great Uncle Lawrence Steele, and they finally got him linked to his siblings and his parents and spelled his name correctly. Also i was wondering if you would happen to have a photograph of him, and if you did, if you could send it to my email address. email@example.com Thanks and have a nice Sunday.
|Minister Derek Boyd West||Irvin Steele|
I was just wondering about if you knew if my Great Grandpa George Steele's cousin Irvin was on here anywhere. I have heard about him, and have thought i have pretty thoroughly gone through the whole Steele Genealogy on here, but i don't think i ever came across him.
|Minister Derek Boyd West||I just wondered if you had any info on my Great Grandma Phema Steele's mothers family?|
I was wondering about my Great Grandma Phema Marie (Parsons) Steele's family. My cousin Charle's dad Edwin, which is Grandson to Great Grandpa George Steele, a son of his son Charles Monroe Steele, has Great Grandma Phema's Bible and it states that her mothers name was Louisia (Smith) Parsons and her dads name was Dace Parsons. I can not find anywhere on here either of those names, or any of their family members. I know that is outside of your line of the family, but thought i would ask in case you may possibly have any information on them.
