W. L. Whisenant
Hi, I am Willie Lafton Whisenant's Oldest Granddaughter, Lynda Pyle Perry. I think we have connected before! Anyway, My Grandfather Willie L. Whisenant was the son of John Wellington Whisenant and Julia Isabella Payne - from Smith County, Texas.
John's Father was John Dill Whisenant . . . .

One of Willie's siblings, Maynard Whisenant is buried in Houston, Harris County, Texas. One Sister, Edith (my Mother's namesake) is buried in Tarrant County, Texas. Her married name was Powell.

These were the only ones of this family I ever met. My Mother, an only child, only saw her Father a few times in her life! I only saw my "Grandfather" (alive) 2 times in my life! I did attend his funeral!

He was re-married to a full-blood Cherokee named Lynn . . . a darling lady, she had a daughter, Dolly by her first marriage. She and Willie never had children!

RE: Willie Whisenant
I do, and the Montgomery County Texas Memorial Library has a book published about the history of our Whisenant, etc. (spelling) Family.

My Grandfather lived in Muskogee, Oklahoma and was re-married to a full-blood Cherokee Indian. When he was married to my Grandmother, he lived in Texas.

He had a brother named Manard, a sister named Edith - who my Mom was named after.

Mother said the family came from Germany, on the Rhine River and the name Whisenant (which is spelled very differently in German . . . with z) means "whitehouse".

I will be glad to send information on family soon, my husband is ill right now! Send me your e-mail . . . mine is buddyperry@att.net. Lynda Pyle Perry
