Personal: Grew up in Indiana-polis. Army veteran. Married. Retired near Syracuse, NY.|
Professional: BSJ, MSJ, Northwestern Univ; PhD, Syracuse Univ; post-doctoral MSL, Yale Law School. Professor, Syracuse Univ, 1967-2011; Professor Emeritus, 2011 to date.
Editorial: One of the joys of Find A Grave is that some contributors use computer databases to create thousands of memorials, some enjoy walking cemeteries and photographing tombstones, others are happiest linking memorials, and some honor the deceased by adding documents that enhance our understanding of their lives. Rather than complaining about the work of other contributors, let's be grateful for the diversity of contributions.
Phony "rules": A few contributors make up faux rules like, "No death certificates on my memorials," despite the fact that the FAQs are perfectly clear that, "Death certificates may be added...." Maybe these folks missed the "follow the rules" and "play nicely with others" lessons in kindergarten?

Thank you for editing the bio on Phebe Gard's memorial and adding their son!
|Melissa Mihal||RE: cause of death of Francis A. Bradfield|
I added your quote about the cause of death (with a shout-out of thanks to you), but I don't understand the end where it says "JNO R. Pirtle S. Up." Do you have any idea what "Pirtle S. Up" means, or could that be a typo?
Thank you for that! The phrase in question is in reference to where he died. Just North Of = JNO, R. Pirtle = under who's *direct* command. S. Up = South Upstream. I inquired as to what this meant and was told by a historian.
|Melissa Mihal||RE: Your correction re Francis Bradfield|
Thanks for your SAC re the date of death for Francis Bradfield. As you probably noticed, I had cited a source for the Apr 4, 1862, date of death I posted, but you didn't tell me any source for the Apr 3 date you believe to be correct. Could you please let me know your source so I can include it on the memorial?
Date of death came from the "US Registers of Death of Volunteers 1861-1865"
|Scotty||RE: Thanks re Figgins-Feagans|
Thanks for follow-up! I have noticed that you and I share a desire to untangle things so I was pleased to be able to contribute my little piece. I looked at the Pickaway County group of Feagans and I still do not think they are related to my Feagins. Regardless of that I always wanted to untie some knots over there to help a guy who contacted me 10+ years ago. Maybe I can still find his address. All the best to you.

|S.Marsden||Stephen Runyan Johnson|
Stephen Runyan Johnson is my g-g-grandfather. I was in Ohio last October and the cemetery was in the midst of repair. I'm happy to report that Stephen's monument has now been re-erected. I have photos of it but the site won't let me upload as the max photos have been reached. I'll be happy to forward the pics to you to post.
Thanks for adding the History of CC portion & the Census info. That will be very helpful for others seeking this family history. You seem to know a lot about the Johnsons. Are we related?

I have transferred memorial #88621458 to you so you can make the appropriate changes. Please maintain the links to her children.

This Harry Pugsley is not the husband of Edna Elizabeth Farrar. This Harry, b. 1859, is Edna's father-in-law. Edna married Harry Perlee Pugsley, Jr. b. 1895.
You have added some photos and flowers to a few of my family members. I wanted to say thank you! You added two photos of documents of Adam Little that I have never seen! THANKS!!
|ammerman-moran||John W. Ammerman#122638086|
I believe he was a twin brother of Joshua Ammerman who was my GGG Grandfather. Joshua died before the 1850 census in decatur Co, IN," probably Washington Twp ". Possible cholera epidemic in the area in 1850. I hope to add some names to the Ammerman line soon. Many thanx' for your work here.
