James Gallimore 1734
Dear Ronnie: I am descended from John Gallemore of Twiggs County, GA (ca 1785 - 1860) who married Hannah Gaines in 1822 (Marriage of John Gallimore to Hannah Gaines recorded in North Carolina Marriage Index, 1741-2004, County Court Records at Dubson, NC & Family History Center on line; took place 13 June 1822 at Surry County, NC).

I am trying to trace his father and his line back in to North Carolina. I see from the genealogy of the Gallimores published on your webpage that a John Gallimore was the son of a James Gallimore (b. 1765), who in turn was the son of a James Gallimore (Born in Virgina in 1734). Could you tell me what the genealogical proofs are for a John Gallimore being a child of James Gallimore, etc.?

I have found a William Gallimore listed in the Reconstructed Census of Virginia of 1760. I also know that there are three Gallimores listed as Revolutionary War Patriots in North Carolina. I would appreciate any clues you can give me as to the proofs for these early Gallimores. I have recently discovered that the name comes from the Island of Lewis in the Scottish Hebrides and was derived from a Gaelic name that sounds much like Gallimore.

Thank you for Any assistance you can give. Martha Hartzog, Austin, Texas

Re: Gallimore Family
Hi Ronnie. I am seeking help with regard to my GG Grandmother Katherine Gallimore who was married to William L Beanblossom. I know one of her brothers Sampson is on Find A Grave buried in Davidson County but I cannot get any data on her beyond what has popped up on ancestry. I believe her father was Jessie or James Gallimore and her mother Rebecca or Rachel Stanley. I was able to locate what I believe is William Beanblossom's memorial on Find A Grave. Any help you can lend would be great. please email me at with your reply. Thanks kindly, Jerry Hughes
